The G35 is not a drivers car in my opinion. Yes it has the power but it does not allow you to truly "drive" the car. I prefer a lightweight car that makes you pay, to a certain extent, for your mistakes. One that I can slide the tail out a bit. A drivers car to me is one where you can control every aspect and feel the feedback of the experience. The G offers too many things to be a drivers car: luxury, weight, a PITA traction control, under par suspension (After driving it, I am not a HUGE fan) and many more. I don't know, that is just my personal thoughts. Give me an E36 M3 and I'd be as happy as a kid in a toy store!

It is my grand touring car, but I did have some fun in it on twisty roads.

Yea, it would be fun to have a 2nd fun car, but I don't have any place to put one ever since my dad bought a Corvette. I'll have to stick to that.

G is good enough for me lol I like grand touring.

For me, No..Same platform as the G but with two seats, shorter overall length (Correct me if I am wrong) and only like 200 lbs lighter (Correct me if I am wrong again, I am trying to go off of long lost knowledge here).

I think it is a "compromise" car... gives a little in every category, and does it well... easy on the eyes, easy on the wallet (when compared to competition) ... Now a GTR... that would fit the bill.

My Vette is a drivers car, turns flat on a dime and throws you against the back of the seat when the throttle is nailed. But....if I want to go for a ride and really enjoy myself I'd rather take SLICK because she's more driver friendly and also turns quickly/flat thanks to my mods. Power, enough for my wife to tell me to slow down or she's going to barf on my dash. My favorite "Drivers Car" is my G35!

I was interested to know what people thought, as yes the G is a Z in a different suit, and about 150lbs heavier, and a lot of people think the Z is a drivers car,
personally i think the G is a pretty nice drive when pushed, a bit under powered for my taste, but none the less pretty good, (but i will add that it needs coilovers, and i suspect you get softer suspension in the USA so as std its a bit lardy in the curves) (we have lot of bends, not curves! here in the UK)

I would say its marginally worse than my old JZ80 Supra, which is also essentially a GT car with big BHP, drivers cars IMO are Lotus Elise, Cateram, certain Ferrari's, GT3rs, not BMW's etc, S2000 comes close, but kind of like a lighter Supra.

The famous G is a fun car, but not reliable. and often if you buy an used one it will have many problems!

just because it says BMW on the front dosnt mean it is a drivers car. even the current M series cannot be considered a drivers car.

If you own a G35 coupe and don't consider it a driver's car. Then it's the driver's fault not the car. Does it make a sweet sound even stock...yes. Does it accelerate briskly...yes. Is it stable all the way to max speed...yes. Can it be thrown around in the twisty's and put a smile on your face...yes. Does it look great while accomplishing all of the above...hell yes. Is it better than a porsche 911 turbo, Corvette Z06, Aston Martin...no. Now the most important question of all...can I afford any of those...NO!
