03 G35 FS: APS Extreme TT BUILLLLT by GTM Opinions...

So heres the deal... There is a local guy that has an 03 OB G35 coupe 6MT. He has reciepts for over 37k worth of work done to the car at GTM in California. Car has 120k on it and build has 24k. Build includes built shortblock, pistons, sleeved, tranny upgrade, coilovers, APS extreme TT kit with upgraded dual Garrett turbos, you name it pretty much everything built! he had a very long list of upgrades.

Anyways he has had the car up on craigslist for awhile now and he cant get rid of it. he started at 25k then came down as far as 19k. This winter he put in an aftermarket alarm and remote start and ever since he did that the car wont start. says it turns over but wont fire. He says it is the NATS system and the car just needs to be brought to nissan for a security relearn (he put a dummy key under the dash to use for the remote start and thats what caused it to mess up the nats). I researched it and it does sound legit. My only worry is that this car has SOOOOOO much stuff done to it that what if it isnt the security relean, or if it is and I get it fixed and the car has a rod knock or somne other major problem with the motor....

Right now im pretty much getting the car for 14k if i do the deal... trading my running car for his car im gonna have to trailer out 2 hours to my place and go from there...

What are you opinions... could it really just be the NATS?

heres the pics...

why dont you give him a $ down. Tow it with him to dealer and test it to see if thats the prob.
OR it sounds like the if it is the alarm that the Immobilizer bypass module is failing and somehow locking key out... check this thread for alarm info... I would buy it but drain oil and see how it looks first.

So if he knows what the problem is why doesn't he fix it? That sounds kind of shady.

It has 24k on the build. Thats a lot of beat on me time. For a fully built engine to just not turn over one day because of a key left doesnt make sense. It would have tripped the sensor the first day.

Sounds to fishy i would say if its so cheap to fix bring it in and then ill pay once its running the difference if its not over X amount.

Honestly it sounds weird he'd just give up and sell the car over such a small problem after he's dumped SO much time and effort into the car.

So either 1, something is wrong and he can't afford to fix it. Or 2, something is wrong and he can't keep it fixed (keeps messing up), so he's washing his hands of it.

Of course there is option 3 which is that it's exactly what he says it is, but that just doesn't make sense...it's not consistent with what normal people do.

If you have the pocketbook to cover fixes if the motor needs serious work and you feel up to taking the risk, I'd say be very wary and look into it.

If you can't afford it if something goes seriously wrong, I'd say stay away.

I'd ask what your plans with the car would be? Do you go to the track a lot? Just for daily driving? If something goes wrong, do you have the cash to fix it?

If he has been selling it for some time now, I'm sure at least a few people have had interest in it... so why did they not buy it?

For myself.. The car has so much work done to it, I'd be afraid to touch it. If something broke I'd be lost.

If it's what you and he think it is, make him bring it to the Nissan dealer and fix it. If you are right, it should be easy to fix. Then you can hear it run and hopefully test drive it before you buy it. I could not imagine buying a modified car and not hearing it run or test driving it.

Good luck, sounds like one sweet car if everything works out!

Those prices are inflated...tell him to have the issue fixed and you will cover the cost when you purchase the car.
