In order to shift smoothly in any gear, you have to slowly release the clutch. Has noting to do with fluids, synchros or whatever. Just the way the tranny is.

One of the reason is the high engagement point. Most people are use to just releasing the clutch at the end.

Whereas, in other cars, the engagement point is in the middle, so it's ok to let go of the clutch at the end.

In the G, you have to release is slowly and not left off.

can you give the car gas while slowly releasing the clutch without reducing the life of the clutch? when i do this i can feel an added vibration in my foot on the clutch that i dont feel if i don't give it gas. is this a bad thing?

Gary I wasn't referring to the notchiness of the shifter; I have no problems getting into any gear at any time. I just meant the car jerks if the shifts aren't made rather slowly and the clutch feathered. My G has 25k miles on it and has been meticulously maintained, never redlined or raced or abused, so I'm pretty sure it's not my hardware.

This....^....is why it so difficult to give anyone an answer unless you're driving the car yourself. Even though you maintain your ride Tragedycat I feel you have a clutch issue. I've driven MT my whole life, even in the service and never had them jerk while changing gears...."unless I was doing it wrong!"

I was talking about the notchyness in the movement of the shifter. Not the notchyness of the actual shifting of the car, I find it not that hard to be able to shift the car smoothly and I'm used to a low engagement point.

I just picked up an 07 with 35k and have noticed the "jerkiness" but I realize that it is because of the
  1. lightness of the clutch pedal (came from a wrx, almost put my foot through the firewall on the test drive)
  2. the awkward engagement point of the clutch
  3. the slow rev down of the motor / flywheel

just thought i would chime in

I was thinking about taking out the buffer spring, and adjusting the engagement point... seen the walk through for each on here.
