How to make shifting more smooth?
I just had a my clutch and flywheel changed which I enjoy, but I was wondering if there is any way I can do something to my car /shifter to be able to shift more easily and make it more bubbly and smooth? Thank you.
Was your clutch peddle readjusted when the new clutch was fitted? as this could be the problem making it harder to shift.
Was an uprated clutch fitted? there are a lot of things that can influence the way it feels, however "bubbly" is not one of them

One sure way to make your MT shift better would be to change trans fuild to RedLine synthetic. If your clutch/flywheel were installed correctly using synthetic fluid should make it feel better than new....happy trans!

^Best advice, I got my G used and that was one of the first things I did and it definitely made a huge difference, I used OEM MTF because I couldn't find Redline locally or I would have gone with that.

I have an OEM setup and the only way I can make the shifts smooth is to shift extremely slowly and let the revs drop to where they need to be, and feather the clutch out. AKA take like 3 seconds shifting. So now I just don't worry about it and live with the bucking motions.
I drove three this weekend with this "notchy" shifting. good to hear it's normal as it was a little different. It's not all that notchy though

Biggest issue by far is the competition between quick-reving and heavy flywheel. Its so easy to leave too much gas on while up-shifting, causing the needle to jump up and miss the rev match to get into gear. If you overshoot it takes a little longer for the revs to drop back down to the match point because of the heavy flywheel. It doesn't work all the time, but I've found I can shift pretty smoothly very quickly by shifting to the next gear quickly as I push in the clutch pedal quickly with my toe, then smoothly letting the clutch back out over a quarter of a second or so with minimal gas until the revs drop from the lower gear's match point to the higher gears match point. The trick is learning when you can add the gas back in, because its not the same for each gear nor is it the same when shifting from higher rpms vs lower rpms...
Keep driving it, and don't get discouraged, you'll find a way to make it quick and smooth. Keep experimenting.
