Door vibs when playing music & Inside tire wear

Anyone have this problem?? The driver side door or rear side panel is vibrating when I turn the music to a moderate volume, it is like a buzz every once in awhile. When a song with more base comes on it is more frequent. Never did this before and the radio is stock system.

Also what can I expect to pay for rear wheel rotation and balancing, I'm getting wear on the inside edges of the tires due to the campher angle?

dude, the rear vibrations are very common! there's actually a tsb for that. you can take it to the dealership and they will take it apart and put some paddings under there. i've had it done and it does NO good. my thing still vibrates going over bumps and on bass notes. welcome to infiniti. the whole care rattles. but the engine kicks ***.

you don't need rotation and balancing if you have uneven wear. You need an alignment. Is your car lowered? Lowering a car causes negative camber which will wear the inside of the tire. Get it aligned. If they can't get it within specs due to lowering, plan on buying new tires more often.

Re: Door vibs when playing music & Inside tire wear

Brought my car in for the 15K service and complained about the tinny rattle in the rear headliner. They also did break down the tires and wheels to rotate them, and I must say, it has made quite difference. The insides of my tires were wearing excessively too (not due to mis-alignment), which caused the low speed "roar". Now they are nice and quiet..for a few thousand miles. They did fix the rattle by adding some more foam insulation to the headliner, and so far so good...

I am still hearing a slight vibration in the drivers side door when playing music loud...have to complain about that next.

Mine is not lowered. It only appears that there is excessive wear on the rears. I do hear a constant moan from the wheels though.

As for the vibration it sounds like it is more from the side than the headliner but I can't tell if it is in the door or the front of the rear side panel. It's annoying!

omahaG, since you're a "brand spankin' newbie" I'll cut you a little slack. Just so you know, the stock camber settings are set to be negative for handling reasons (this inherently means more wear on the insides of the tires, especially the rear tires). This camber setting will cause uneven wear even if your alignment if absolutely perfect.

Lots of difference between perfectly at the center [nominal] of the range and inside the factory parameters.
Rear nominal -0.58 degrees [range -1.08 to- 0.08 degrees].

Important to adjust and keep alignment adjusted regularly to NOMINAL to extend tire life.

if you think the vibrations aren't coming from the rear, then it might be from the rear 'A' frames. check out the TSB's for them.

Re: Door vibs when playing music & Inside tire wea

Relax Red Rocket....I know camber is set neg for handling....it is just that I am getting wear which seems excesssive and I don't do that much harsh driving. I will ask dealer to check the camber setting to make sure it is at -.58 and rotate the tires and also check alignment next time I'm in for service, which may be soon for that vibration in the panel. I may be considered a newbie on this site but I got my G in Dec of 2002. When did you get yours, after I flew by you on the highway??
