Thanks for the info. I'll have to check out all the parts you listed this weekend. If nothing checks out, it may be normal clutch noises that i'm just not used to yet.

First gen G's rattle clank, click, whine, moan, buzz and squeak. It is ALL normal for this car. Turn up the radio. Roll down the windows or just learn to ignore. You'll drive yourself crazy trying to track them all down.

(I'm not hating. I love my 06 6MT coupe. I'm just stating a fact. The sooner you learn to ignore it all the sooner you start having fun with the car. Tune it all out except for the exhaust note and you'll be fine.)

It rattles far less than my 01 maxima so i can handle it. Nothing rattles inside which is great because I can just roll up my windows. I guess i just need to make the exhaust tone a tad louder since it's already dead sexy...

Congratulations on your new car!

Are you certain the sound you're hearing isn't the ABS self-test? I ask because you wrote you hear it in your neighborhood.

Sure. Every time you start your car, then start driving forward, the anti lock brake system does a self test to verify all is working as it should. This sounds like a rapid clicking that lasts about two seconds. The test kicks in only after the first forward motion after the car has been started, and you'll hear the sound once you reach ten m.p.h. or so.

When you wrote you hear it in your neighborhood, I thought I'd mention this because that's about the only time I ever notice the self-test. When I'm out in town, there's usually enough other noise and distractions to keep me from noticing it.

Thanks guys! I'm looking forward to these next few years of owning a G.

Irrelevant: Thanks for the info. I obviously have a lot to learn. I dont think that's what is causing the slight rattle though. It happens almost all the time when accelerating; mainly when the RPMs are below 2500. It's not too bad though. Nothing I can't get over but hopefully it's just the heat shields.

Best wishes tracking down the source of your noise. I guess I'm either lucky or deaf, because my G doesn't seem to suffer from the rattles some complain about. It probably helps that I spent a decade of my life driving thirty year old American cars from the 1960's and '70's though .

It can take a while to learn all about these cars. It took me two years, a mishap that resulted in a cracked headlight, and a forum post here to realize the G had fog lights...and then how to turn them on. I guess it's obvious now I don't live in San Francisco!

Congrats!

I think it would be pretty tough to learn how to drive MT on the G35... It definitely has one of the more wonky clutch engagement/feeling than any MT I have ever driven... Learned on a Honda, drive my friend's STI all the time, driven plenty of others in between, and all are pretty smooth. Not so much for the G...

Aside from some of the small nuisances you'll come across here and there, the G35 is an amazing car =D. Have fun with it!

izzueeek: isnt that lip just part of the aero kit? gosh I need to learn more about my own car...

xdEnbOyx: Yeah it took a couple hours to learn the gears and what not. After owning it for only 2 days, I'm surprisingly smooth at shifting; now I just gotta get faster. I figure if I learn to drive a stick on a G, any other car will be relatively easy. Regardless, I absolutely love this car already and I'm so glad I chose to stick with an Infiniti/Nissan.
