The problem sounds like it would be easy to pinpoint in person. Your absolutely positive nothing except the pad is coming in contact with the rotor? My bad wheel bearings didn't sound like that either.

I've texted the owner and he said it was the rotor... I asked him what about with the rotor, and if he's had it looked at.. and I've gotten no reply.
At least on the outside of the car there is nothing touching the rotor except the brake pad, the pad appears to be a solid 75% or more left.

The rotor cover is on the other side so I can't actually inspect the otherside without removing the wheel and taking stuff apart, which I can't do yet as to lack of tools.. (until I get home)

I'm thinking that the axle nut is a little loose causing the rotor to tap against the rotor cover, I'm going to take the wheel off and see if it is loose(once I find an auto store to get a breaker bar, as the car has a locking lug nut set..

Ok update.
So I took the wheel off and tightened the axle nut.. Wasn't really loose but was able to give it a small turn.

It turns out that the rotor looks bent..
As in when I look at the rotor from straight on from the top one side looks further out than the other. Either the rotor is bent a little or the wheel bearing/hub is. Will update more in a bit.

My little brothers Eclipse had the SAME sound and it turned out to be the little metal cover thing on the inside of the rotor that protected from dust or whatever. It was bent from the shop that did his brake change. They bent it back out and no click/clunk sound.

Although you seem to have narrowed it down to a bent rotor (can those bend?), maybe its a warped rotor? Or a bent dust cover? Anyway, just my .02!

Well I'm pretty sure it's a bent/warped rotor. But still could be something else. Is yours sounding the same way?

I'm ordering a nice set of slotted and dimpled rotors along with some good pads as my front rotors need replaced anyhow.
But I will prolly pop the axle off and lube it in case it still is the axle click/prevent the axle click.

Then I will let you guys know. Still could be wheel bearings or a slightslu bent hub, so I will replace that if the rotors don't cure it.

Keep us posted if any of those things solved your sound.

Mine is random, happened earlier and now it doesn't. So I'm stumped as to what this could be.

Ok, so problem is finally solved!!!! Man it's so nice to not hear the click/clanking noise!! haha

So I popped off the rotor and what do I find? This!

So aparently maybe the previous owner tried to take off with the parking or E brake up and it just dislodged the whole parking brake assembly. A couple parts are mangled lol. So I'm ordering a new parking brake shoe, and a hardware kit. For now I just took the one side off.

Anyhow the shoe had been rubbing up against the rotor, but surprisingly no damage to the rotor. Which I'm still replacing with some slotted rotors, as the front ones are junk.(you can see the grooves in the front rotors from 5+ feet away!!!!)

So thanks to everyone who had suggestions.. Sorry it took me so long, but I've been crazy busy with work and school. Any questions just ask

I had my axle clicking fixed by the dealer but it came back a few thousand miles later. Its just a little quieter now so I can live with it
