I had to jump start my G35 last week when I accidentally left the headlights on (auto-on function didn't register the need for headlights in the storm so I had to turn them on manually).

Car runs fine, but the only thing is now none of the interior lights work; the puddle lamps, the visor lights, or the interior lights.

I did a search and came up with two solutions: a) disconnect the negative terminal for about five minutes, and the lights should come back on (not sure why or what, but its resetting some certain circuit?) or b) replace the fuse. The only thing is there are apparently three fuse boxes and I'm not sure where the interior light fuse could be found (or maybe this isn't even the problem at all?).

I've had the car for 13 months and I haven't had the battery replaced yet, but I'm pretty sure that is in the near future. When the G sits for two weeks straight, it refuses to start, whereas my IS350 and my cousin's 330Ci start right up; both have fresh batteries from within the past year.

I will admit I jump started the G when it was drizzling a teeny-teeny tiny bit; I shielded the battery from the rain as much as possible, and my friend and I took as many precautions as possible (rubber-soled shoes, didn't come in contact with the metal, took a tarp with us, etc.). I know this may have been a stupid idea, but the G was nearing the 2-hr. time limit on the street and would be have been cited a $58 ticket. It had been raining the entire morning and when it subsided I took the first opportunity.

I would check fuses first. Thats the easiest thing to do. The fuse boxes have diagrams on them - you will probably need to pull each fuse and check them individually.

 

I can almost say for sure it's a fuse..

 

I would definitely check fuses first. Your G should start without a problem with a 2 week time off. One of your battery cells might be going bad, I left my G for 3 weeks without starting it and it started up fine. Go to Autozone and have them check your battery after you get the light problem fix.

 

Thanks guys. I'll check the fuses in the morning. The battery does seem quite old, there's a little bit of white ooze around it. Will probably replace that too. Thanks again for responding!

White Oooooozeeee. Clean that stuff up, and make sure to clean the terminals on the battery. Take off the hookups and wipe it up with a rag. Clean terminals will make the battery last longer, and dirty terminals cause arcing and bad stuff.

I had no luck finding a fuse labeled "interior lights" or anything along the lines of that. Got frustrated and another more thorough Google search and rummaged through old threads on other boards, and found one on the 6MT boards suggesting to disconnect the negative terminal for 15 seconds. Gave that a try and much to my amazement it worked! So hopefully if another member ever comes across the same issue s/he will have this thread and response for reference.

Will do. I was actually researching earlier today on how to clean batteries/battery terminals. So baking soda/water or Coke ftw.

I've got the same issue.
I've checked two fuse boxes, at a passenger and in front of battery.

Now, I'll disconnect a battery.


1. But what technical reason is for this issue?


2. Will throttle body make adaptation when I plug battery back?

 

1. Body Control Module needs to reset and the best way to do this is to disconnect the battery
2. May need to reset

 

Necro thread, but there's also a 10A fuse in the driver's foot well that controls all the interior lights (doors, ignition, roof)
