My Xenon is Messed Up =(
Hey,
Lately I've been noticing that whenever I hit bumps and stuff I feel like the Xenons flicker or something. I thought I was just imagining it until I was driving home last night from NYC and I took the FDR to get to the GW Bridge. I guess all those bumps on the FDR did something to my lights because as I was on the Palisades Parkway heading home (no lights on this highway), I thought my left Xenon was out. Then on closer inspection, I think the bulb had been "knocked" out of place and was aiming crazy high. So when I was almost home, I turned off my Xenon low-beams and fog lights because I knew that the off-level left xenon bulb would just rape on-coming drivers. Anyways, I turned them back on when I was on my street (no other cars) and everything was back to normal. It was as if nothing happened....it's like I fit another bump or two and it knocked the bulb back in place....weird !!!!!!!!!!
I don't understand what the deal is, but tomorrow I'm going to open up the fender well and remove and re-insert the bulb and make sure it's nice and tight. Has this happened to anyone else??? I can't understand how just because I have to take my G over the bumps (they are seriously unavoidable and they make me cry, but I can't do anything about it), my headlight gets messed up from it. I dunno, this just seems so pathetic, it's like the car can't hold up to some bumps in the road. =(((
I have so much faith in the rigidity (which makes for the super tight feel) of this car, and I know the 18's hit everything hard, but it shouldn't be knocking stuff out of place. =*(
Just needed to vent.
Thanks,
MrElussive

Puff.....LOL....but you could be right.....
It could very well be that the impact of your accident had maybe jarred the bulb loose, and you just knocked it back in place......
The only thing I noticed is around the year mark my HID's seem to be giving off a slight red color on the edges of the beams pattern......anyone else notice this change......
I hope if they decide to burn out, its under the warranty period.....

Yeah, I have that red halo effect too. Would these be covered under warranty? I think its a wear and tear item. I think a significant amount of the light output has to turn redish before it burns out. I haven't heard anything yet about sedan owners who have had their HIDs burn out. I think they would last about 4 years.

Hmm, I forgot to take the accident into account. It actually did start happening after the accident. But the right bulb was not having any problems at all and that is the side that got hit! Oh well, I opened up the fender well this afternoon and checked out the bulb. It seemed perfectly fine in there, but I pulled the bulb out and placed it back in and set everything back in place. I was just driving aorund in the rain and hitting all the bumps, I didn't notice any flickering or anything like that.
It was just freaking me out last night when I was driving home and like one bulb was pointing upwards, lol.

E,
Take it back to the dealer first. Tell them what's going on. If they want to charge you because they can tell the car was in an accident and the accident caused it. Have them speak to the bodyshop and let them work it out whether they will pay Infiniti to fix it or they will fix it themselves. But do not pay out of pocket!!! I think Infiniti first is a good idea too. Afro, usually when you get that redish, pinkish glow, that means the bulb is gonna be dead on you soon. I think it should definitely be covered under warranty. Let me know how it works out.
