Hell I even tried to carefully pick at it with a fine pointed tool. Once I saw that even that wouldnt remove it, I figured it had to be a scratch. Once I buy a PC, I'll try again and hit it with some polish but for now idk. I have no idea how they could have gotten there.

Edit: Oh and one more thing. The picture makes the marks look grey, as if it were residue from the adhesive. It wasn't at all. It was silver
we understand. we have all been there. stay strong. we believe in you!
try some buffing compound then wax. that was ultimately what got rid of the rest of my goop. and yes it looks and feels like scratches, but that also lookes the samd as mine did.

If they are scratches why not try touch-up paint...Dr. Color Chip FTW

I'd rather not. It would look like **** IMO. For small chips, it would work great. But not for this application.

I'm telling you man..70% isopropyl alcohol..everyones got it at home..if not its $2 at the dollar store..and polishing compound from walmart is $2 at wally world..turtle wax stuff in a green can..the alcohol with a microfiber cloth will get the residue out..then polishing compound will help with any scratches or shadow left from letters..use the hairdryer to heat it up a little and the alcohol WILL GET IT..LOL..

footballmainia32,

I had the same exact issue with my black G35. I used goo gone, wd40 and then I used a clay bar and two different layers of polish and nothing. It does not appear to be residue since I used a clay bar and the area feels smooth. I am also considering putting back on the letters.

I took my G to a detail guy and he told me that the damage was done to the paint. I plan on putting my letters back on.
