Should I get gtr overlays?

Hey everyone,
I want your opinions on whether I should get opaque black gtr overlays for the tails.
I have a grey 2007 coupe. I haven't seen too many grey coupes with black overlays so I don't really know if they will look as good as I imagine them to.
I'll probably buy them from bat --> http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y42...rent=tgtr2.jpg

Also, in my area people have been getting pulled over for tinted tail lights a lot so does anyone know if these overlays are legal?

What do you guys think?

Thanks

It's legal.. Unlike the tint you aren't covering the lights so the lights still shines as bright with or without them.. But on a personal note I really don't like how they look on the 06/07s

They Look fantastic on the OB coupes... I messed up my install on my first set and have been waiting until I get some warm days to install my new set on my 05 OB coupe. I wouldn't do Black on any other color though... If you're set on getting them, try to get a set of colormatched overlays instead.

I've seen a lot of them with colormatch overlays but I just don't like the look.

I'm looking to do something like this but in full tint.

I saw it on a grey coupe the other day and it looked pretty nice. I think where I live, tinting brakelights is illegal. (California) I could be wrong though.

I'd like to know for sure too. But as someone above pointed out... aren't the GTR overlays still exposing the lights, just tinting the sides?

The GTR overlays have holes where the brake lights are. No light is blocked out if installed correctly. That means Brake lights, reverse lights, courtesy lights, etc etc etc all shine at exactly the same brightness as oem spec. Tint meanwhile covers the whole light and in turn makes the lights themselves dimmer. The GTR overlays simply make the tail lights look like little circles.

Haha, oh yeah. I forgot about the holes that expose the brake light... My bad :/
If you like it, I'd say go for it! Worst case scenario is that you peel it off and pay a cheap fix-it. But that probably won't happen. Good luck!

OP: Here's a pic I found on DG. They look pretty good. Although you said you have the 06+ tails so yeah. but it gives you a good idea of it on a DG

Also, do NOT get color matched ones. They will look UGLY (IMO at least):
