Favorite car part and why?
Favorite car part and why?
Ladies and Gents,
What is your favorite part (type or specific part) of your car and WHY?
My favorite type of part is the tire.
Tires work in ways that astound me, sure they are sturdy rubber, but the fact that pressurized air is suspending me and 3500 lbs off the ground is pretty sweet. I think about the torture they endure, things like bumps and gravel and stuff, but what really gets my curious self going is the friction:
The force of the ground resisting the weight, times the friction coefficient of the mating interference of everything between the rubber and the ground (asphalt, gravel, water, air, etc) equals the maximum static force that can be applied, and this is applied across each tire!
And that's not all! Over a constant surface the coefficient changes with temperature, pressure and humidity. But even that is almost not important. This only applies when we are in control. When we start to slide, we don't have static friction, its kinetic!
The constant just...changes, and it nearly always lowers the maximum frictional force that can be applied. There is a reason; its only one of the most fundamentally challenging things to predict. Billions or trillions of molecules interacting for fractions of a second that somehow still allow a smaller amount of control.
Tires do amazing things.
Your turn.

I hope you aren't into cars as a fetish, I was surprised to learn years ago that that actually does exist, with people actually having sex with cars, pretty odd stuff.
Anyways...
...
My favorite part of the car is the motor, since it provides my exhaust that sexy warble that comes oem. If I dig deeper though I may have to say the absolute favorite part of the car is the sexy lines. If beautiful women were to transform into a car, I picture the g35 coupe.
I know that above isn't exactly car specific but the lines of the car are enough to make any normal person go "hrm that's a beautiful looking car" the exhaust note is just a bonus.

^ Tofu...i didn't mention anything with a sensual tone, but you're talking about the curves and sounds huh? You may be a closet deviant.
Thats alright by me!

My favorite part is the ART pipes I ordered last night, and I haven't even installed them yet! Super excited
Why? The massive amount of R&D that went into this product is astounding. The low end torque they are said to create and the harmonic yet deep sound they create. If you want a scientific reply, go read Tony's thread about the ART pipes haha.

Silencer, WHY?! If those are your wheels in your avatar pic, I have a hard time agreeing they are nicer than your brakes. Talk to me.
Keep it going people!

As of this moment I do. However last night I bought the ARTs that were in the marketplace. Should be here later this week or early next along with my rev-up airbox! I'm so excited!
