does Z tube touch AC line?
i just want somekind of intake for the sound. so me going with a z tube would be the best bet. because cai's generally don't make that much difference in power. so my question is after hours of research.....does the Z tube have anything to do with the AC line problem???? thank you so much!!!

Re: does Z tube touch AC line?
No, there is not any clearance issues w/ just the Z tube. However, if you add the pop charger, clearance can become an issue. Just get the K&N drop in filter and you will be fine. Check under the hood about a week after the install to make sure there are no clearance issues. I took a picture-I can fit my pinky finger between the line and the z tube.
Good Luck!

Re: does Z tube touch AC line?
I wanted to purchase the Z tube too, however after reading so many posts with guys/gals who had issue's with it rubbing the AC line....i have been hesitant.....but if u guys think it shouldn't be a problem with the stock airbox, then ill go for it....
Silver/Graphite 5AT, Loaded minus Navi, clear corners/clearance, PIAA eXtreme whites all around. Z-Tube and K&N Drop In VERY SOON!!

Re: does Z tube touch AC line?
Just take a little piece of rubber hose (Vacuum line hose - can get it at a local auto store), split it down the middle and spread it over the AC tube. This will prevent the CAI from rubbing directly on the AC tube.

There is No problem with the part.....the problem is with the installers....before they knew it could touch!
Do it yourself and make sure it is right.

Re: does Z tube touch AC line?
I installed the Z tube and pop charger 2 weeks ago and mine was only a few mm's away from the AC line so I did what was mentioned on this board and that was to drill a new hole for the bracket which attaches to the air filter and the car frame.
I just drilled the hole closer and this moved the z tube about half an inch away for the AC line, easy fix.

Re: does Z tube touch AC line?
It's not the popcharger that touches it, it's the effect of the popcharger on the placement of the z tube with some installs.
I have the z tube, stock airbox and filter, and it doesn't touch or seem to come close to the AC line. It does add some noise to the engine, so you should be happy with that given your intended purpose.
Now add on some Crawford cats for added power and slightly additional exhaust sound.
