What are you guys being charged for a reflash.

I need to reflash my ecu on my 03 coupe. I have exhaust and a cold air AEM and the car sometimes dies when I let the revs drop. I took it to a dealer who does a LOT of AEM cold airs and they said it needs to be reflashed and it will fix the problem. They told me it takes about ten min. But it was like 100.00! Is this average?

*i think* the dealer's consult - ii does this..and that its free for them to do (parts-wise)
on the other hand, the dealer could charge 1hr labor... esp since its not warranty work. i dont think id pay more than that rate...unless of course, i had no choice

They've tried to charge me too.. It takes 30 seconds.. They assume you are naive and they can get a free100$ from ya.. I was like "cmon guys i can do it myself but i just dont have the time and i know a place that will just do it for free", and they ended up doing it for free.. lol

We called them and they said its not a reflash. He said they set the ecu to my mods. They said they would do it for half, 50.00

when you guys say reflash... Doesn't the dealer just reset the ECU... Because technosquare charges close to over 500 for a reflash to match the mods... ? You have to send the ECU to them and everything...?

I just read technosquare's website and they charge for $500 and you have to un-install the ECU and send it to them with $$$ In my opinion, $500 for a reflash that fit with your mods its like upgrading windows 2000 to windows xp. I really wanna see the result of the reflash, but im too lazy to uninstall my ECU, then send it to them, then send them $500, then get it back within maybe a week (which means no car for a week), then install it again on the car. Too much for me >_< I wish there is a faster way to it...maybe something like send me an ECU and i send $ that would be much faster (plus i get to keep the stock one for purpose)
But im sure they really put a gread effort on R&D on the reflash

or if you live in so cal, you can just drive to technosquare's place and have it reflashed without having to take out your ecu and have no car for a few days. =P

TS's reflash is worth every penny. As far as a spare ECU. Nope. See that little chip on your key head. It knows what ECU is in your car. The key wont start the car with the wrong ECU in it, and a key without the right chip wont start the car either. BTW, the downtime is not that long. When I reflashed mine, I took it out on Saturday (a weekend). Sent it by Fed-Ex Economy Overnight and had it back and in the car Tuesday. No Problems.

BTW, I got the Crawford Flash to match my mods.

Worth Every Cent.

Lou
