I'm curious if anyone with a 5AT has gotten Brembos off a wrecked 6MT and installed them on their car? Since brembos are prohibitively expensive to buy new, getting them off a totalled 6MT might be a viable option if the brakes weren't totalled as well. Anyone looked into this?

I m not sure if it would be an easy task to find a crashed coupe to begin with, let alone a 6mt. I could be wrong but I don't think there are too many G coupes in junkyards. But like I said, I could be wrong.

the brembo's witll also fit the stock COUPE 17's. I have this setup right now. Your spare tire will not clear the brembos. I learned the hard way

 

Here's my $0.02 about that.

If someone "wrecked" their car like a G35 w/Brembos...I seriously wouldn't have it installed in my own G35.
It's just bad "CHARMA".

Derek, are you saying that the spare that comes w/ a 6MT will not clear the brembos?

 

I have a 6mt and I popped a rear tire and went 30 miles on the spare with no problems ecpt. the little tire makes your differental work like crazy at stop lights, even being gentel

 

I popped a front tire and couldnt get the spare on and neither could the guy at firestone.

 

My understanding is that the spares between the 6MT and the 5AT are NOT the same. The 6MT spare will clear the Brembos and the 5AT spare won't. I'm not sure about this but this is what I've been hearing.

I think the spare on my 6MT coupe is a 17" rim. The largest (non-full size) spare I've seen! i should chrome it out, bling bling[img]/w3timages/icons/wink.gif[/img]

I have a 5AT coupe w/ 350z brembos and the spare does not fit

 

a 17 inch spare for 6mt owners??Thats crazy discrimination against 5at's with the 16 lol The car looks like its gonna tip over with the spare on. lol

For parts like these I would expand your search all over. A couple of larger Nissan/Infiniti Wrecking yards I know of are up by sacramento.

They tend to know Nissans and Infinitis better than most as well. I bought Z32 front brakes for my 240sx from Autogator years ago. They were very specific with details and even had the VIN# for the car they pulled these off of.

 

hmm... imma look into this.. but only as soon as the warranty on my original breaks run out. lol.. i 4get how many miles/years it was though =P
