That's correct, the power you get with an SC is linear, so you don't get the sudden boost of power, shocking the tranny. Some other things that can help you prolong your engine's life are supporting mods like exhaust components. If you run aftermarket headers, cams, tp's, and catback exhaust, they'll reduce your boost PSI, while maintaining your whp. Less PSI = safer.

Ok, this is probably going to be seen as a very stupid newb question, but when you get all these mods done and it's time to get your vehical inspected, what then? Also, will insurance companies insure with mods?
Well I still have another year before I have to take it in for smog for the first time. I'll either swap out my ART pipes with OEM cats, or pass through "some other means"
. Depends on your insurance company, if they do, you have to show them receipts of your parts. Just call up your insurance co. and ask.

Ok, so after asking all these questions and finding out what I was going to need I started doing research on price... and well I was figuring 5-6K.... man was I WRONG, this will be a little bit longer process than first anticipated haha. So I take it it would be better to get everything else in prep for F/I and let that be the final step correct? Also with the ECM, would it best to just purchase that at the same time as the SC, or get it prior while making the other mods to get ready for F/I? Does anyone know of a good shop in SD area, that does good reliable work since most of this is beyond my knowledge

It depends on your insurance if they will cover your aftermarket parts or not.
I have the majority of mine insured, things like my wheels, my system, and my kit. I pay an extra like $40 total to have it all insured.
The thing about it is though, when your aftermarket parts are insured and something happens, lets say you wreck, you won't get the amount of money that you paid for your wheels or whatever. Instead, you'll get how much they cost during the time of your accident, a depreciating value. Sure you're paying a bit extra just in case something happens, but I'd rather have all my stuff insured knowing that I could get at least some type of compensation for these expensive parts.
Insuring all my exterior stuff didn't cause my rate to jump up either, at least not substantially. As for performance parts, I have absolutely no clue how much they will raise your coverage. One would assume a decent amount, but assuming won't get you anywhere.
Just call and ask. It is what I did and I'm glad that I did it.
