*HELP* Sticky Accelerator on WOT!! '05 G35 AT

Hey Guys, please help! As I was driving today, I felt the need to punch on the throttle with no cars down the street on open road. I was in about 3rd gear and floored it till redline then released the accelerator when I noticed it got stuck for a good 2-3 seconds and I had to suddenly brake.

This really freaked me out and was wondering if anyone had noticed this issue at all and if I should take it to the dealer to get inspected. I push my car hard sometimes but I had never gone WOT so this was my first experience.

Thanks in advance!

Just to clarify: I was in Manual MODE going from 3rd to 4th gear. However, I did not shift UP and let go of the gas as soon as I hit redline on 3rd gear. This was when the Accelerator Pedal seemed to have got stuck for 2-3 secs, the REV was still high, and I stepped on the brakes which was when the Accelerator Pedal popped back to normal. Hope this clears up any confusion. Thanks guys!

Yea, I was scared as hell as I'm a new and proud owner of the G and this was my first experience going WOT.

Not sure if I should try to replicate the problem but am very concerned at the moment.

I think you just had your first experience with rev matching. When you let off the gas the car will keep the revs at that point for a moment. I don't think anything's wrong with your ride.

This happened to me yesterday as I was accelerating from a stop. I didnt realize how fast I was going and lifted my foot quickly from the accelerator to slow down. But I did it right about the time when the car would shift up into the next gear and it continued to pull until it shifted and slowed. sounds like your experience was the same and it is completely normal.

Thinking back to it, I definitely think it was a matter of "rev matching". I remember my RPM staying there for a long period (2-3 secs) of time. First I've heard of and experienced this. Thanks for chiming in guys.

Is there an added benefit to having this feature in our rides?

Doesn't seem normal to me (my 03 5AT never does that). It is pretty dangerous if you ask me, much less a benefit from having that "feature".

As far as "rev matching", is it normal for the Accererator Pedal to be fully pressed while it's rev matching? Because it was fully pressed for the 2-3 seconds while I had my foot on the brakes. Then I heard it pop back out.

Is this normal?

Right. But 2-3 seconds are way too long, and long enough to get your self killed.
Just tried mine. The rpm dropped right at the moment I let go of the gas pedal.

Thanks everyone for all your feedback. I will give this another try on OPEN road once I get the opportunity. Will report back to give everyone an update.
