New Member looking to buy...good deal?

Hi,

New member here. I have been in love with G35 coupe for a few years now but never had the money to purchase one. Now that I finished school and have a good paying job, no longer an issue!

I am currently shopping around for 05+ Coupe with under 100k in either Red, Black or White with a MT.

I am stuck between two vehicles which I looked at and need a second opinion.
The first is a Black 05 with 80k for $21,800. Still has Infiniti warranty until Aug 2011. The car is in absolute mint condition and nothing I would even complain about.

The other vehicle is a LR 06 with 34k for $24,000. Still has Infiniti warranty until Sept 2011. This car was also in absolute mint and had no issues from what I saw.

They are both the premium models fully loaded minus navigation.

Here is a link to the Black:

Here is a link to the Red:

Please let me know what you guys think. I am ready to purchase either car in the next few days or so pending the mechanic gives it the go ahead. Which vehicle would you guys recommend?

As far as color, I do prefer the Black but would also settle for the Red. Lastly, if there are any other deals in the Toronto area that I should check out last minute please share.

Thank you for all the help in advance!

I got my 03 5at with 71k miles in near perfect condition for 10500. If your looking for the 03 - 06 models you should try to find a better deal.

Id say go with the red since I like the 06+ g, with the projector headlights and different taillights. I also think that both are overpriced with those mileages, try to get atleast 2500-3k off, atleast..

....spell check got me!

Please keep in mind that this is a Canadian car and the mileage is listed in KM no Miles. In other words, the black would equal 49k miles and the red coupe would be 21k miles.

Canadian cars tend to be A LOT pricier and from what I've seen these are average prices. Also, for the specific car I am looking for I've had a lot of trouble. I would import a car from the US but don't trust anyone enough to help me out with that.

Honestly, I can but it would take a lot of research, effort and time. Not to sound lazy but with a full time job, getting married in the next few month's, I don't really have the luxury of any of those.

For comparison sake, here is a search result of Infiniti G35 Coupes in my area:

Thumbs up

Go check out Malibu motors in Toronto. He specializes in used Infinity cars(lease returns from Infinity).
I bought a 2005 G MT Coupe last year from him.
I had the pre-purchased inspection done at Willowdale Infinity. They said that Malibu had the best conditioned Gs at the best prices.
I had mine for a year now , no problems. Just had my 96K maint. check dealer found no probs.
2005 with 80KMs. $20k Infinity warranted til October this year.(thats what I paid last year.
Good luck.

thanks for the heads up, I've spoken to them a few times already and for the past month or so nothing in stock that caught my attention. The deals they have right now are OK but nothing special really. You got a really good deal last year for 20k! I think I will be going for the Black I mentioned earlier...I am taking it to my mechanic tomorrow and if he gives it the go-ahead its a done deal. Final walk away price is $21,800 with warranty left over and winter stored for the last 2 years. I don't think it's a GREAT deal but I think for the condition and the current market it's a good deal.

If all goes well I will post some pics on the weekend!

Hey Ozzy, I was in a similar situation as you back in February when I picked up my 04 G35 Coupe.

I originally was looking for an 05-07 but then the oil burning issues kinda scared me away and I began looking for an 03-04 model instead. I picked up my 04 6MT fully loaded with nav and brembos for $17,000 tax included. Car has just over 100K on it, one owner off lease.

With that said if you're intent on the 05-07's those prices seem to be about par. I had my eyes dead set on an IP 06 Fully loaded coupe with 68K on it but it was going for 23K and the owner wouldn't budge on the price.

Also as a word of caution, I too came across malibu motors as they seemed to have the most G35's in the GTA when I was looking, but upon further research, many people complained about them (search redflagdeals forum for more info) and I stayed away from them.

Gluck in your search, if I come across anything I'll post it up for you.

Honestly, I was dead set on a 06 just for the Bluetooth and memory seats. I decided to forgo both and will install a double din nav unit when I get the car and will probably pick up a set of 06 projector lights.

I am fully aware of the oil burning issues the Rev-Up engines have and I am having a former Infiniti mechanic for 6+ years do all the compression tests along with looking at the general problems these cars face.

I think 21,800 is OK deal but the car is in absolute mint condition (pending engine and tranny check). In the end you will never find that *perfect* car and have to settle for something you still love and can live with without regretting it, at least that is how I am looking at it.

As for Mark's comment, 85k miles is equal to about 140km's down here. The car I am picking up has about half of that at double the price. But overall, cars are cheaper in the US.

Thank you everyone for the input, I will let you guys know if the sale goes through!
