Question What is the purpose for the 'clearance light'?

What is the purpose for the 'clearance light' in the headlight? Designated as #4 in the diagram. I am looking to purchase the overlays from bluebatmobile, but am wanting to cover this light with tint if it serves little to no purpose. Comments?

I was thinking to define where the edge of the car is at night, but then isn't that what the side markers are for? On the Ford raptor they had to throw on some small side markers to conform to laws because of the added width of the truck.

Clearance lights are just that, for clearance! Although pretty useless for cars. Mainly used for trucks etc.

Lets oncoming traffic know how wide your car/truck is.

Clarence light are needed because by law cars need a forward facing marker light . On the 04 this would be the clearance strip . On the 06 lights there is no clearance strip so they used the city light instead so theres still a forward facing marker light . Without the clearance strip its technically possible to get a ticket . Its not really for clearance btw just a forward facing marker that infiniti designated the name clearance strip .

Idk, but I do know the OEM is dull and ugly. I replaced mine with Blue LEDs (most people do white, but IMO it still looks dull). So either get those overlays that cover it or put in LEDs for it.

I'd love to but they are more than I can justify.

Kinda surprised the Blue doesn't get you pulled over as last I heard having any Blue lights on your car is a big no-no with the police and such. On another note though, what kind of LED's did you use to get that much light? Are they the normal 4 SMD-LED lights, or something more? Are they forward facing, or are the LEDs symmetrical on all sides. High Intensity or no? Perhaps a link to where you bought them would be best to answer all my questions.

Once I actually put my headlights on the blue blends in and it doesn't stand out. Only time I leave the blue on by itself is if im at like a parking lot just to get some eyes but once I hit the road the beams come on.

They were 7-led. And not sure about the facing/symmetrical. I just took out the OEM clearance bulbs and plugged in the leds. I dont think you can position them. They just plug in like a bulb would. And its symmetrical output on both sides. At day you cant even see them. Even during dimming hours, they dont stand out very much. Only at night do they look good.

I bought them off ebay. Just search 194 led lights. Here's the exact ones.
