I have the Exedy stage 1. it drives like normal... well like the stock one, my car is now turbocharged. it's a good clutch, no noise.

Thanks for the input guys.

VQdriver: I don't plan on heavily modding my G in the near future. I'm probably going to do some of the more standard mods (MREV2, spacer, z tube, and HFC) with the slight possibility of going FI in 5+ years when I hopefully have a little 4 cyl daily driver.

Also, can anyone confirm if my clutch is the only thing getting damaged/worn by the 'grabbing' feeling I get when I clutch in and move the shifter out of the current gear and into the next. I don't want to be messing up my transmission at all. It happens the worst going from 1st to 2nd; I can avoid it by waiting a second or two and letting the RMPs drop to around 1000rpms before moving the shifter out of 1st.

Hmm...sounds like a little gear grinding action. Do you think your synchros are going bad? But you stated it happens in multiple gears. Is your clutch pedal operating like normal? There are tons of problems with the clutch hydraulic system stated on this forum.

When I first start driving in the morning, shifting into 2nd will cause a slight grind if I don't do it very carefully. When it's warmed up it can happen in 2nd and 3rd but not nearly as bad in 3rd; it all depends how careful I am to get the RPMs perfect before I even move the shifter out of the current gear. I'm hoping my synchros aren't going bad because I'm sure that's more $$$ than just a clutch.

My clutch pedal is operating fine as far as I can tell. I just recently changed my clutch fluid and transmission fluid which smoothed things out a little bit.

After doing some reading I'm concerned it's my synchros. I just don't get why it started suddenly one day...it wasn't gradual. Doesn't the drivetrain have a 70k mile warranty? I'm close to 69k so I'm wondering if the stealership might give me a really hard time if I ask them about it.

^ That doesn't sound good, literally! I'd call a dealer. If you're worried about sending red flags to your local dealer, call a different one up, describe the problem, and ask if it will be covered. They won't give you a yes or a no, but if they are good, they should tell you what they think. If the 1st one you call doesn't give you a clear indication, call another!

Quote: I've been doing some research online and I'm considering an Exedy stage 1 clutch with a Nismo flywheel. This seems to be a decent combo without breaking the bank. I don't want too light of a flywheel due to the chatter so the Nismo seems like a happy medium. Any input on this combo is appreciated. I don't drive my G that hard (just the occasionally spirited driving) but I do plan on doing some track days at some point in the future.
best of luck finding the nismo fly...it has been discontinued for sometime now.

I'll have to drive to my local stealership where I bought my car and see what they say. Does the warranty still apply if I'm the 3rd owner? I just bought my G about 2 months ago so if I have to dump 2k into it already I'm not going to be happy.

What kind of fluid did you use exactly? Eh, it doesn't sound good indeed. That's a sick trans you have there...

I used OEM fluid in the transmission and DOT4 fluid in the clutch.

Looks like Infiniti will be getting a visit from a new, yet not so pleased, customer this weekend before I hit 70k miles in the next week or two.

If it is bad synchros, does anyone know if it will be covered under the drivetrain warranty?

Yes Infiniti Powertrain warranty covers syncros in trans.

Nope clutch is only covered for first 12 months of purchase

Yes good always put OEM fluid in your trans

Yes NISMO flywheel will be very very hard to find..

Usually lighter the fly wheel the more noisey..

Best thing to do is to sit in the car yourself..

Also another thing you'll like or may not like is how much faster the RPMs go up and down when throttling in Neutral (i like it better for downshifting)

finally NEVER DRIVE WITH YOUR HAND ON THE SHIFTER!

I guess I need to find out ASAP if it's my clutch or synchros. I don't hear any grinding and it doesn't feel like metal on metal through the shifter which is why I still kind of think it's the clutch. Hopefully the dealership can tell me without giving me a bunch of BS.

Is this not the nismo flywheel? (only took 1 google search) http://www.importpartspro.com/niliflni35g3.html

My cluth/flywheel already makes a good bit of noise when sitting in idle in my driveway so I can't imagine a light(er) weight flywheel could make a whole lot more.

And why shouldn't you drive with your hand on the shifter? I didn't know it could be that bad for your clutch/transmission. It will be a hard habit to break.

Well, I just dropped of my G at the dealership. They said if it is the synchros it will be covered. In the mean time, I'll enjoy cruising in the g37 they gave me as a loner.
