Rattlecan painting can turn out pretty awesome if you do it properly.
A few things to remember:
1) Scuff whatever you're planning to paint with sandpaper prior to painting.
2) Wipe it down with alcohol beforehand to displace any water/dirt/oil that might be on the part
3) Prime it first. (Duh)
4) Start off with light coats, 6-8" from the part being painted. DON'T hold the can too close, and for the love of God, don't keep it in one spot for too long, or you'll get runs and have to strip the paint and start over again.
5) Lay a light "tack-coat" in between each heavier coat so that the paint will adhere more readily.
6) Let it cure for at least a day.
7) Wet-sand the part with 1000, 1500, and then 2000 grit sandpaper.
8) If you're feeling up to it, polish and/or clearcoat the piece. This will require more wet-sanding and buffing, though.
That's pretty much all you need to know. If you're impatient and don't want to spend a day or two painting your grille, take it to a good painter. He can have it done in about 4-5 hours.

I know plastidipping is frowned upon around here, but I think it it fine for emblems and the grille. Nothing else though, saw a guy who plasti dipped his front bumper and it looks pretty bad.
My grille is out on my balcony drying right now from my second coat of plasti dip and I personally think it looks great. I would recommend doing that as it is very forgiving, and has a nice matte looking finish to it.

Trust me, you'll be so much happier with the outcome of regular paint over the plastidip. I did my rear mt fuji in plastidip a while ago and it looks pretty good, but after going my grille with gloss black, i'm definitely doing the rear over again with gloss.
i just 180 grit paper to sand everything off. then go back over it with 320 grit. then back over it with 1000 grit. then 3 coats of primer. 5 not-too-heavy coats of black. and 4 coats of clear.
AND MAKE SURE IT DRIES ALL THE WAY BEFORE YOU TRY TO PUT THE FUJI BACK IN!
I was in a hurry cause i had to go to school and i messed up the paint a little

It super lame to pay someone else to do a project you can easily do yourself in a few hours! Sand paper/primer/paint and clear, with our warm weather you could get this done in one afternoon easily at a cost of +/- $20= And you'll feel good that you did the job yourself and built self confidence!

The DIY link might help. I read it, but couldn't get the grille out to save my life - it seemed - without breaking something. This is after I bought the $15-20 worth of paint & supplies. But that's just me. And while I got my refund, I still haven't gotten over it. Dammit!!

The logo, not that you're as clueless as I was, is a simple insert that comes out from the inside after propping up the hood. Squeeze the prongs & push it out to the front.
So, to all you technically proficient Floridians:
Who in S. Florida wants to do mine for a small fee + tips? Supplies on me; I buy, you fly.
Hell, anywhere in Florida..........J-ville, panhandle, I don't care; a worthwhile roady, I'd say.
Holla! I tip well.
