Oil Consumption Help !!!
I am still monitoring my Oil consumption and on 500miles i have not seen any noticeable consumption on the dipstick. I am still tracking and will update on the results of what i have founds. I am at 83k miles so no warranty on this vehicle so i will have to take care of it my self. The engine sounds strong and oil was fairly clean upon oil change and i have not seen any oil leakage from the underbody.
I have a feeling the spark plug seals will probably be leaking and i will do the R&D fix with new valve seals. If i notice an oil consumption issue than i will add a stillen oil cooler and a stillen large capacity oil pan. Those 2 parts should take care of any issues with engine running low on oil or getting hot. OC is a known issue on VQ motors to some degree. The revup motors tend to burn up more oil and need to be monitored and topped off an needed. As long as you maintain oil level and possibly install a catch can then you should be fine. If you have a warranty by all means do your absolute best to get a new motor and push for long block since the revised TSB calls for short block.
Video clip of an engine that has been starved on oil at one point and had a BAD Oil consumption issue. 1 of the vehicles i was looking at and this is why you must always listen to the engine and test drive car before you buy.
