question about Authentic HKS and Replicas
So i dont get how a HKS sounds louder, deeper, and meaner then a replica...
replica are like the same thing except HKS has a round capsule on the end of the exhaust... so what makes hks really sounds louder?? is it bigger piping???

Ummm I don't know where you are getting your information but it isn't right.
HKS is close to the volume of the replica's if not quieter. Deeper? I don't think so. Meaner? Again many people end up saying the replica's are meaner.
Your question has absolutely no bearing when half of the information is incorrect and the other half is pure opinion. Dumb question. And before you ask, you should at least look up the piping sizes of the two before making your guesses.

even if its a replica, it might still have different resonator and muffler material inside...
speaking of HKS, i saw a thread around the net, not sure if it was this forum, but some guy took his HKS and cut the piping to provide a cross section of the crossover pipe and found that the crossover pipe protruded into the exhaust flow, and i mean pretty badly.. on top of that, the protrusion wasn't even centered.. one side was blocked more than the other.. for a $1,500 exhaust and reputation like HKS, i think its an epic fail on their part.. comon.. $1,500 and they're not even going to do the crossover pipe correctly??
i'd rather settle for the replica... is there a chance that the replicas are worse? yes.. is it possible the replicas are better? yes.. i think i'd rather be disappointed for $300 instead of $1,500.

HKS left the United States....!
Yea the HKS situation with their **** poor quality control surprised all of us considering the reputation they once had. I found the same issue with the cross over in my HKS exhaust system. So now I have a $1700 exhaust with a Magnaflow crossover but the sound is even better, like nothing else out there. If I were buying an exhaust system right now it would be MotorDyne along with BERK'S HFCs to keep it legal. Just because exhaust systems look alike the mufflers/resonators and stainless thickness make all the difference in quality and sound.

I didn't see anything wrong with his post. He corrected the OP on some myths and I thought he was actually reserved in his advice. I was going to tear into OP for asking why an original was better than a replica, but chose not to.
Relax man and get to know us a little better before you go all *****-nilly on someone.

I have an x02 and from what ive read the biggest complaint is that the tips rust. So I bought some true titanium ones from a member and slapped those on an they look sexy for sure. As far as sound I've heard that side by side the replica's note is deeper. I can honestly say I've only heard the replica, with stock cats, and it sounds like sex

We actually carry the Replica for $400 shipped to your door!
This is the best way to explain the sound when comparing the authentic HKS and Replica:
Authentic HKS retains some of that "tone" our Gs have..
Replica one feels "louder" due to its tone and but IMO sounds a bit generic..
Now again this is just how I'd describe it.. Personally I wouldnt put either again on my car because I dont like the cabin noise they produce. I do like the HKS at WOT under load tho sounds amazing when you're outside of the car lol. The replica sounds a little bit too generic but then again thats only when compared to the high dollar HKS exhaust. For $400 shipped its a steal for what it is.
Things that'll make the two sound different:
Different quality of metals.. I'm going to assume the replica one has cheaper material in it just based on our cost of the exhaust.. This isnt the best example but imagine you humming into a coke can and then humming into a soup can because of the thickness ones absorbing more vibrations..
Different resonators and mufflers.. While they look the same from the outside the they're not.
So again each to their own. But again, we have this exhaust for $400 shipped if you guys are interested
