^^^ I'm in the same boat. Replacing the plugs this weekend and getting tires balanced before my upcoming roadtrip. Not sure what else I can do. 250-250 on a tank is my avg too (and I'm not driving it like kneivel).

 

I drive about 300miles every weekend in the G coupe and I avg around 24. I also drive between 70-80mph in 5th or 6th gear. I use the navigation meter to adjust and try for the most mpg. With my city driving I get 19 on average. IT TAKES A VERY FEATHER AMOUNT OF PRESSURE to adjust it during the trip. Before I had the nav meter and the G I had such a lead foot, this helped me a ton!

The highest I've gotten was 26.3 in the trip which was a constant 80mph with no stoppage. This is to state college PA so there's a ton of mountains and ****

The lowest I've gotten was 8 -- That was on my old engine when I was taking it in for the swap due to oil burning problems hahaha. I revved it soooooooooo high everywhere I could it was awesome! Of course I reset the mpg meter when I arrived ;D

 

Lemme guess - you did absolutely zero research about the gas mileage rating for the G before you bought it...

If you're averaging 18.8 you're probably doing better than most.

Best I've ever seen is 19 around town and 28 on the highway.. Ever. In six years. Absolutely NOT the norm for me.

 

26 mpg / 90% hwy, 10% city
cruise 65mph all the way to work.. 6th gear.. and try to keep it low rpm every time you drive.

drive it like a old granny ftw, tap the gas and hit 65mph slowly..

Since the price of gas has skyrocketed, the averages are a little low (nearly $80 a tank now, as many as you know) and since I only fill up every 3 weeks, those won't accurately reflect what I'm spending at this moment in time... I have some nice graphs and charts of all the information above.. Pretty sick feeling seeing as though two years ago, Premium at Chevron was ~$2.30 a gallon... And seeing the graphs gradually climb up to almost double that now.

Anyway, my MPG is based on combined city/highway, split pretty evenly as I drive local roads to school and freeway to work; I drive the speed limit (no more than 65 mph on the freeways) and I normally shift around 2.5k RPM but I do quite a bit of spirited driving as well; pedal to the metal and bouncing off the rev limiter on the on-ramps a few times per tank. I by no means drive like a douche-widget and gun it at every stop. Also I rev-match my downshifts (heel-toe) so that's a little extra throttle thrown in... I've tried to granny shift and "hypermile" which netted me my max MPG @ 22.72... Will never do that again, lol, it's too painful not to stomp on the pedal every so often. After all, this is a sports car, not a Toyota Prius. =D

EDIT: I have some breather mods, MD Spacer, MREV2, Z-Tube/K&N, and soon some ART Pipes + Exhaust and a tune, so I'm eager to see what that will do for me.

 

Must be nice. I got to 280 for a tank recently and I thought I was doing great. Unfortunately for me, 90% of my driving is stop and go, city driving. If I can get it on a highway, it increases significantly.

 

All I can say is that this car is a true Sports Tourer. It's suited to fast pick-up when you put the foot down, and gallops comfortably with little effort on the long straights. Whaa hoo! But it's tuned to suck fuel to achieve this.

I note with my auto that in the city I'm getting around 16, and over long trips I'm averaging around 27.5. Roughly, that's a difference of ~250 miles to ~500 miles per tank. That's quite a variance. The bottom line, as others have said, is that you don't buy this car if you're worried about the price of petrol... Buy a bike and hug a tree instead!

 

Are those city or highway. 18mpg on the city is above avg for this car.

I'm getting 15-16 mpg on mostly city driving. 70/30 (city/hwy). And it's all cruising. I don't drive like this is the fastest car in the world or that my G is faster than your Honda attitude crap that some people have here.

I like how people who drive 80% hwy come here and say they get 20+ mpg. LOL, no **** sherlock.

Mine is 03 6MT ...... in city i get 20mpg i guess...... my computer tells me i average around 25..... sometimes 27 too on my way to cinci from columbus.

 

i dont know if my calculations are accurate, or close to being accurate, but i've been getting 19 mpg consistently. I do a mix of highway and city, but my highway driving consists of going 70+mph on cruise control. then i like to push it a bit...
i'm gonna talk a little bit of trash on our cars :P but i really miss the power I had in my WRX... the G just doesnt give me that thrill at all... i think that throttle cut at high RPMs really plays a big part in the loss of acceleration which is one of the reasons why i absolutely hate electronic throttle control. cable throttle all the way!!

 

I understand, but we need to remember that the Rex is a different car for a different market. Unfortunately, Nissan's Skyline has never been the same following the Renault buy-in, which saw us moving from the turbo fun of the HR32, 33 and 34 to the non-turbo, V6-based V35 (or G35 in the U.S.). I owned the HR32 and HR33, and now own a V35/G35 - and they are clearly for different markets. Earlier Skylines were a road-racer/drifter, and the more recent V35/G35 more for the luxury tourer market. Sort of 'The Fast & Furious' vs 'The Transporter'...

 

I average 28-32 mpg hwy. I have a tune and use synthetic lubricants all around. I have an 07 A/T and i'am able to monitor just about every parameter of my engine. You are suppose to use premium fuel not plus. You should use the proper grade of fuel reguardless of the cost. You milege will go up some.

 

I think we can all agree with one bottom line conclusion - this is not a car that should be purchased if you are looking to attain incredible fuel economy. This is a sports car, plain and simple. How you drive it will affect the gas mileage to a degree, but at the end of the day it is still a car with a large engine that consumes a significant amount of gas.

As one of the early replies stated - if you want high mpg, get a Civic.

 

i traded in a trailblazer ss for my g coupe last month, my mpg is almost hybridesque compaired to what I got before lol. In the 3-4 tanks of gas I've used of courese my first tank owning the car was the lowest at 18.7 and my last tank I got 21.7 with most highway miles on that tank
