Simple fixes you must do

Simple fixes you must do
I've been following this board for several weeks now since I bought my 2003 G35 coupe 6MT with 5000 miles on it (got lucky and found one for $26800 in perfect condition from a submarine commander getting deployed to Iraq). Certain themes keep coming up on this board. So, out of deep compassion for all of you, I'm going to share the simple fixes I've done for the few problems I've had:
1) Have your dealer do the window grease TSB. It's simple, does no damage to your door and completely eliminates the problem (at least it did for me).
2) My shoulder harness-on-leather seat back friction-creaking was eliminated by treating my leather interior with a lanolin containing leather conditioner (I used the ArmorAll brand). It lubricated the top of the seat back sufficiently to stop the friction.
3) The passenger-side seatbelt latch slapping-on-the-door noise was eliminated with a small piece of adhesive foam I got from my hospital ER ortho room. If you know someone who works in a hospital, have them cut off a 2x3 inch piece of 1 inch thick adhesive foam that's used on casts. Stick it on the inside surface of the passenger door where it meets the side of the seat back--doesn't show at all unless you open the passenger door.
4)Willow dashboard reflections on windshield--this was my most serious problem because it drastically affected visibility in certain light conditions. DashDesigns.com has a tight-fitting, customized dash cover that looks very professional, protects the dash entirely from sun damage and completely eliminated the problem. In spite of some ridicule I've suffered on this board, the cover actually looks very cool in my opinion.
5)Overheated interior--completely fixed by "trimming" the climate control setting. There's a method for doing this using the control buttons as described in the service (not owners) manual. I listed the precise method on this board--can be found by searching for the words "Climate Control".
6)Don't even think twice about doing the simple, cheap, DIY mods: clear corners, drilled pedals and Z-tube.
Hope this is of use to somebody.

Post some pics of that dash cover. I had one in my last car and I'm a little hesitant about putting one in the G.

Doesn't look that bad. I think it would've looked a little better if they had cut around the instrument cluster instead of going over it.

The instrument cluster binnacle is the most important part of the dash to cover if you have the reflection problem--that's the exact area that reflects directly into the line of view through the windshield. If you have a reflection problem, I wouldn't hesitate to get this kind of dash cover (in charcoal). It looks way better than the picture and I think perhaps better than the regular plastic dash--at least the Willow one. A pair of fuzzy dice hanging off the rear view would complete the effect.

Re: Simple fixes you must do
Actually, I tried RainX and lots of different wiper blades for my windshield wiper chatter. My dealership performed the TSB on my car (replaced the motors and redid the wiper assembly) and my driver-side windshield wiper STILL chatters!
Btw, I personally prefer the stock black pedals and the yellow corners over drilled pedals and clear corners, but that's just me. =)
Yeah, you shouldn't have present it as "simply fixes you MUST do". My dashboard doesn't affect my visibility, in fact....I really think you need your eyes checked if the dashboard "drastically affects visibility in certain lighting conditions", and I'm being serious. Nissan/Infiniti doesn't put out interior colors that mess up your visibility dude. Like if you got into a car accident because of it and tried to sue Infiniti over it, you would just have no case at all.
P.S. Your dashboard really does look awful from that picture.

More like a dead rat.
I have a willow interior and the reflections don't bother me.
I'm glad you're happy with the dash cover. To each his own.

Funny-- RainX fixed it for me. I'm not sure how the wiper motor would have anything to do with the way a rubber blade does or doesn't glide smoothly over glass. The Willow dashboard is dangerous--I beg to differ with you. The decrease in visibility when the sun is at the wrong angle is major and I do think it could potentially, although rarely, lead to an accident. The darker cover made a big difference and looks quite a bit better than a road-killed cat splayed out on top of my dash.
Can't understand why you prefer rubber pedals and yellow corners, but to each his own I guess.

Re: Simple fixes you must do
The regular pedals suit the interior better....the interior is more luxury-oriented than sport-oriented and my interior is black, so the black pedals match better.
As for the yellow corners, they just look far more natural to me than clear corners. The signal indicators are orange and the yellow corners match those better. Don't forget that the Brembos are gold/orange and my NJ license plates are yellow!
As for the chattery wipers, a lot of people have the issue but for some people it's worse than others. RainX has nothing to do with solving the problem for me, I tried that and it didn't work. RainX just makes the water run off the windshield and is also a polish, so RainX will make a poorly maintained windshield smoother.
The chattery wiper issue is because the windshield washers are positioned on the wrong places on the blades and puts uneven pressure on them, causing the wipers to chadder and judder as they wipe. When they performed the TSB on my Coupe, the passenger side chattering is completely gone, but my driver-side wiper still chatters on many wipes.
Don't blame me just because Nissan/Infiniti doesn't know how to make working wiper blades. I tried every possible solution (different blades, different polishes, etc.) and so did my dealership before I called Infiniti Consumer Affairs and they found the TSB for my Coupe and performed it.
I believe technically I can file my Coupe for lemon law because of the stupid windshield wipers, lol.
