Unhappy Car Turns off on its own please help!

Hey guys I own a 2003 G35 coupe I do have a Intake system other than that the car is stock. I was washing my car this afternoon and after I was finished I took it out for a drive. When I took it out for a drive my car decided to turn off on me while I am driving. When I turn my car back on my check engine light comes on. Before I get my check engine light checked what do you guys think might be the problem? I was guessing possibly alternator problems or maybe I got water in my Intake system please help!

Did you wash the engine bay? Or the air filter? It might be water in the intake, but I'm curious how it would have gotten in.

very unlikely that you got water in the intake unless you DRENCHED your filter with water. if you let your car idle, notice any knocking or pinging?

and no to alternator problems, your car wouldnt stop like that, it just wouldnt start.

it could be a lot of things really unless you're more specific on how it stalls out. i'll list em..

timing chain? making the car run lean or rich in higher rpm, but not likely.
oil leaked into cylinder from valve cover, the older gens known for that problem.
bad spark plugs? maybe from the leaking oil, maybe it just needs to be changed.

please elaborate the stall

yea with the little info you posted its kinda hard to figure out what could be wrong your best bet it taking it to like advance auto parts where they'll put the scanner on ur car and tell you what code popped up

Well the car does have a short ram intake and it does go down to the lower grill of the car. I didnt was the engine bay but just confused on why it turned off. When I let the car idle it runs fine no knocking at all normal idle. Just when I take it out for a drive my car decided to turn off and when I turned it back on my check engine light did turn on but after a little bit of driving the check engine light did turn back off.

No it happened to me late last night turned on the car drove it and turned off on me while im driving. Turned it back on and it didnt turn off on me while I was heading back home. This morning right after I wrote my last post I had to go to the grocery store and on my way to the grocery store my car again decided to turn off. But this time there was no check engine light.

turning off? or dying?

and is it when you are stopped? or when you are literally driving down the road?

What grade of fuel are you using? If your using corner store el cheapo your fuel filter could be clogged.

its either the fuel filter or the MAFS sensor.. it's not your battery. It must be throwing a code since the car is "turning off". You can check to see what code it is throwing and then u will know for sure or a better idea of whats wrong.

if it threw a code i would go with MAFS... i don't think a clogged fuel filter would throw a CE light

I would make sure the MAF and throttle body are clean first.
