Tokico D-Specs no go for 6MT

Was ready to pull the trigger on a set of Tokico D-Spec shocks/struts but noticed that it will not work with the Sport Tuned Suspension. This REALLY bites because they are exactly what I am looking for:

High performance shock/strut
Adjustable compression and rebound
Adjustable without being removed
No change in ride height/ uses stock springs

First, does anyone have any idea WHY they won't work with the Sport package? The only difference is stiffer springs and beefier sway bars. Maybe the sport springs require a different mount size or shape?

Second, does anyone know of anything similar that meets the criteria above? Koni makes adjustable performance shocks but they only adjust rebound and the rears have to be removed to adjust.

Third, if there isn't anything comparable does anyone know a work around for using the D-specs?

Finally, if I can't find something to meet the criteria above, what would you do. The car is a daily driver, weekend back road joyrider, and hopefully part time track day car as well.

Coilover kits not an option. All of them lower the vehicle and I'd just beat it to pieces on my driveway curb, pothole and tracks around here.

Thanks for any advice/ideas.

you dont have to lower your car just because you have coilovers you know that right?

best option is coilovers and in your case. just adjust the height of the coils to stock and adjust the dampening to whatever u feel comfortable with and you're done.

Personally I call BS on the notion they won't fit. Not bashing on you N80 but why do all coilovers fit on all first gen Gs and 350s but the D Specs don't? Makes no sense to me. I feel you have been misguided by whoever you talked to.

I don't see any reason why they wouldn't fit. Who is saying that they won't?

They WILL fit. I've had them and I have the Sport/Aero package.

Tokico says they won't:

I agree, can't imagine why they wouldn't. But, in their chart they show the D-spec coilovers fitting all coupes but the plain shock and strut kits specifically not fitting the sport tuned suspension. I have no idea why not....that's why I'm asking.

And until I can find out for sure, I don't want to drop $600 and find out that they won't.

And just to clarify, I don't want a coilover kit. I think the springs on the sport suspension are perfect and don't want to double my cost just to replace them.

I have sent an email to Tokico but not real sure if they will reply or not. Will post back here if they give a decent explanation.

I used 350Z springs and they fit, maybe they can't take the sport-tuned springs?

But they are adjustable. They dont list any restrictions for the 350Z so maybe pick up a set of the Z shocks/struts. It looks like they dont have any excluded 350z's so I dont think it has to do with the springs. I believe the Z's have stiffer springs on some of their models. Tokico could just pull a "track edition" or something like that from the Z line-up and lable it for the G35 sport....
Makes no sense to me at all.

N80 the shocks and struts from a Z fit physically so why not pick them up?

Just for clarification....you guys who say you are running them....you're talking about a 6MT or AT with sport tuned suspension right? And you're talking about the adjustable D-spec shocks/struts without springs right?

I'm just trying to be real sure about this. I mean this could be a $600 mistake if they don't fit. I might could sell them but I'd still take a hit and still have to find something else to fit.

Also, for you guys that have them, what do you think about them....how do you run them in terms of adjustment..

Thanks

BTW, no reply to my email from Tokico. They've got an 800 number. I may call them later this week.

And what's up with the points and level and activity bars?

You don't have to worry about them not fitting, they WILL fit. All of the shock/struts for the first gen Gs are interchangeable. I have never had them so I can't comment on how to adjust them.
