Take the grille off yourself, and remove the infiniti logo. at that point you can take it to the shop to get done if you wish, lots paint it them selfs though.

my 03g35 grill came off with 2-4 plugs on the top of the grille out and pulling it off, I think there is a how to on the forum not sure where though. I just went at it.

It should be painted normally, you could always rattle can the job but it may not turn out the best or have the shine you're looking for. Not sure why the shop won't paint your grille, the emblem comes out very easily and they can easily paint it black but I think you need to bring it in to them.

What kind of **** poor body shop can't paint a grill?

A shop that can tape off a roof and paint it, remove the mirrors and paint them, and tape off the rear valance and paint it... but they can't undo 4 of those clips on the top, pop out a grill from the bumper, squeeze the two clips to remove the emblem, and then paint it?

Like others said this is a easy DIY. If you arent comfortable with your painting skills ANY good body shop should be able to paint the grill. I had mine professionally done to color match to my OB coupe. Here is a link to the DIY. Good luck.

There's a "Do it Yourself" for grille removal and paint....SEARCH! This is something you can easily do yourself and the cost in minimal. (sandpaper and a couple shaker cans....black & clear)

I used rattle can - plasti dip actually- had my grille painted for over 2 months and have had no chips. I cannot imagine a good sand/primer/paint would chip easily, but it is the grille so depending on cinders on the road it could get hammered a lot.

^Plasti-dip will not chip but regular rattlecan paint jobs will chip for sure, I had my grille professionally painted Black to match the car and after a few years of driving there were some small chips but nothing major. Unfortunately I think any paint job on the front of the car can be prone to chips in the future.
