Best Oil Brand/Grade for Revup that eats up oil?

I want to try a different oil to see if I can stop this crazy oil consumption (i know about the TSB, ive already replaced my engine once...)

So I'm currently using Castrol Synthetic 5w30 and I already had to add 2 quarts after 3k miles...

I saw the thread on my350z.com comparing the oils...should I go for the thicker oils? Like Mobile1 0w40 or Shell Rotella T-Sync 5w40 or maybe Redline 10w40

What do you guys recommend, and that has actually worked for your revup engines? And lets just say I do some "spirited" driving since I do drive a stick and that's the main reason I got this car to be able to have fun with it...unfortunately Nissan has let me down with this whole oil burning nonsense...

Thanks!

Mobile 1 5w30. You can get it from walmart. Just get the one that's 11.99 for 5q. I was having to put 1 1/2q every 1000 miles. I didn't have to do a oil change. Lol. Good luck.

Well, to get all the crap in your oil out, yeah, you do. Also you still need to change your oil filter...

OP, if your car is still burning oil like crazy, get your engine replaced (again). It doesn't cost you anything (yeah it sucks you need to break it in again, but that's not that big of a deal).

My personal choice is Royal Purple and Lucas oil stabilizer. I drive at 100 too much really and have no consumption issues, I also use the larger oil filter from the dealer, YOU ARE USING A FACTORY FILTER I HOPE> Fram and Purolator etc are ****! I will post the number of the larger filter when I remember to bring the box in and do it.

Yea I should have said that. You got to change the oil filter. Oil change? No! Not if u put in 5 and 2 comes out after 3000miles. Maintain 5q and just change out the oil filter every 3000. U will be good

Filter from the dealer is fram, Purolator's are good. The M45 filter is the larger filter. You need a bit more of oil 0.2 quarts to bring it to the H line on the dipstick

Also Royal Purple is mediocre oil in the VQ

Yes, you still need to get an oil change, stuff will settle in the oil pan.

Overpriced for what you get. Look at some of the UOAs posted on Driver, RP doesn't perform as well as a lot of synthetic oils in the VQ.

Tim's right....^....Royal Purple will cause you more issues and you don't need to spend your $ on expensive oil if your experiencing OC again. Changing the weight won't solve OC issues take her back to the dealership.

^ This isn't just a "whats the best brand" oil thread....I'm looking for something much more specific in regards to the issues our cars have and if theres any oil that is better in that situation
