Tail light tinting

I want to tint my tail lights but I don't know what I should do exactly? Should I paint or get overlays? I have a black coupe. I dont want to completely smoke out the tails. You guys have any pics of nice tints to recommend and what should I use(overlays or paint). Where can I get it?

+1 blue bat sells a lot of precut overlays.. =) I had them before on my G..

However for the CLEANEST look you'd wana go with paint.. Tip for painting tho. DO NOT sand the lights in ANYWAY.. if you do not you can always wash off the paint and repolish the lights to remove the tint =)

Whatever you do please tint your tail lights in a way that does not impair the function of the tail lights. I've seen accidents almost happen because people's tail lights are tinted so dark they don't even seem on, and when they light up under braking they are about as bright as a dim reflector.

yeah thats the reason i dont want to smoke my tails. I've seen G's smoked and you can barely see the brake light. Im deciding if I should go with the GTR overlays? I know that it keep the turn signal light and brake light visible but what about the other led? The one with 3 rows of lights on the back? Are those not visible?

Just get full tinted overlays. Ittl smoke them out but you can still see the lights/brakelights fine.

Mine are painted and cleared, the LED's in the tails are very bright. I am able to see the park lights on in the day time.

i definitely want a cutout tint so that the brake light and signal light stand out. Just a straight up tint looks to plain to me. Anyone sell the cutouts here?

Bluebatmobile sells em, pretty cheap too. I have the full tint on my car and the led's of our brakelights go through cleanly.
