Engine oil pre lube system..?

Ive been looking into these for quite some time. They seem to make a lot of sense by lubricating the engine before you actually start the car where apparently more then "50% of engine wear is caused". regardless if the number is exaggerated it does seem to be relevant for the fact that engines are dry started. Has anyone really looked into these and if so how much could they really help our generation of cars?

I think Amsoil makes a system that does this? A guy with an 06 Sedan installed it.

It does make alot of sense, but I didn't like the added complexity.

Doesn't seem like it would be terribly useful unless you often started your car after having it sit for an extended period of time.

As a daily driver, the oil will stay in bearings fairly well. It'll drip down over time, and sure even after just 10 or 12 hours the oil film on your bearings during startup won't be full thickness, but I doubt it's worth the added complexity and cost to have that pre-lube system. Plus, from everything I've heard about these engines, they're supposed to be pretty bulletproof (asides from the '05-'07 oil consumption issues). I wouldn't worry too much about general engine wear. Engines are designed to see some amount of general wear and tear and can almost always handle it.
