Why not a 350Z?
Why not a 350Z?
Ok, i might get flamed but im trying to decide on a car...im so torn between the Z and the G
Why did u pick your G over the Z?
Besides the obvious "more luxorious" and "back seat" or "looks better"
thanks!

Everyone I talked to said the Z rode like crap, stiff as heck. Didnt really like the "boy racer" styling. The G has ***** and looks classy going down the road. Oh yeah, had a back seat too hehe.
you stated the obvious reasons (and most common ) why most ppl chose the g over the 350z. for me though, it was also the value aspect. at the time of my purchase when both cars just came out in late 2002, the prices were very close for both cars. however, all the options that came with the g as standard were considered optionable equipment for the 350z. in order to get a 350z with the same equipment, it had to be fully loaded. upon visiting the local nissan dealers, they weren't available in my chosen color and options.
but most importantly, i just preferred the more sophisticated look of the g35 coupe rather than the younger look of the 350z.

Well since i wanted a manual transmission with leather and the brembos, I had the choice of getting the 350Z with the touring package, which has leather interior but no brembos, or the track package, which has no leather but has the brembos. Luckily the G35 6mt comes with leather AND the brembos...so it was an easy choice for me.
I bought my G for all of the obvious reasons above as well as some other things that I just needed to have...I find it ridiculous that in order to get leather seats you must buy the "Touring Model Z" but if you get this model your unable to get Brembos...So if you want the Brembos you have to purchase the "Track Model Z" but theres a catch, if you get this model for the Brembos you now can't have the leather seats...Thats ridiculous IMO, o and I'm a big fan of a sunroof, which is yet another option that is unavailable on any model of the Z...Its a great sports car, just not a luxury coupe which is what I was looking for...Good luck with your decision...

Because I wanted a combination of luxury and sport, which fits the G nicely. I didn't want a 2 seat roadster.
Plus I just fell in love with the G's styling when it was first shown in Motortrend.
The G's are also more rare than Z's where I am.

Primarily the styling, but also the better warranty and the glass sunroof, which has always been a must-have feature for me on all my cars.
I first saw the Z before the G-coupe was even on the market. I had an immediate distaste for the Z's shape (mainly that back end), and I remember muttering to myself "Hmmm ... I don't think they EVER have to worry about me buying one of those things!"
By contrast, when I first saw the G, it really was love (& lust) at first sight, and I placed my order only a couple weeks later. I will admit that the Z's styling has grown on me greatly by now, and I'm quite fond of it. But that was pretty much how it went down in the beginning.
Inside, the G's backseat was only a minor plus, and I don't really use it much now. But I also liked the pop-up Nav screen, which I thought was way cool. Still do actually!

This is my first post on here, but I'm actually coming aboard from the 350z. I was a member on my350z.com for over a year. All I have to say is Nissan customer service is horrible and although the problem seems to have been fixed I had tire feathering on my 2003 z and it was a nightmare. Luckily Nissan is buying back my car I will be getting an Athens blue G coupe soon enough.

ps that is why choose a G over a Z, nissan is nothing but problems regardless how nice the car looks.

1) Brembos with all manual models *pre-2005*
2) Styling preference. - Elegance.
3) More back seats & trunk space - Daily Driver
4) Better ride quality and comfort - Daily Driver
5) Value - price about the same as Z
6) Better dealership, service, less rattles - Infiniti > Nissan
7) LED tail lights - Styling
8) It's a Skyline
9) Leather + Brembos available together (not with the Z)
10) Better visibility & standard safety features
11) Better looking & Lighter stock rims & tires.
12) Less understeer in tight transitions.
13) Minimal performance loss - most notable is added weight

I'm in the kid corner too, with two kids I needed to be able to load them up in my car.
Even without the kid factor, I would have chosen the G over the Z for the high resale value. Since I was buying the car outright I wanted to make sure my investment retained as much value as possible for as long as possible.
And did I mention it has a back seat?

not to offend any 350Z owners:
1. dealer experience was better at Infiniti
2. G35C's backseat
3. better build quality inside
4. better looks outside
although, if i was younger and single, i would have bought the 350Z.
