The only way to my knowledge to avoid this is to buy a small "charger" that will keep a small flow of electrons to the battery.

Hope this helps.
KarateBoy, Be careful leaving a battery on charge ,even a trickle charger, for any length of time. I've read recently that this can be really bad for the battery.
In this case, I would disconnect the battery to slow or stop the discharge, and recharge slowly on returning. A good battery will accept the recharge easily within a few hours.

Thank you so much. I appreciate this a lot! I have your instructions printed out and when storing comes up, ill be sure to take them with me.

I have one more question... My car is almost 4 months old and it has less than 2000 miles on it. Should I have the oil changed before leaving, after, or both before and after? (58$ for an oil change isnt that cheap but Ill do it twice it if its really advisable). I cant thank you enough for helping me out!
