05 Cupholders Won't Close

Hey I have an 05 and when I bought the car both front and rear cup holders were in the open position... when I try to close either one they pop open... I have tried putting something heavy on top of them overnight and it seemed to help a little, but does anyone know if this is a common problem? I used the search function but did not find anything.

yep it's a common problem. The problem lies with the cheap spring they used for the lid. If pressed on too hard it can pop out of it's track causing the lid to not catch properly and instead stay open. Even worse, rather then just replacing the lid like any normal product, you have to replace the entire middle console if you want it fixed. If the spring hasn't broke, you can try to maneuver it back into place... look at the rear left corner of the lid. (Closest to the driver side and the backseat) You should be able to see between the lid and the console and see the spring I'm talking about. If you are extremely lucky and careful you may be able to move it back into place. Personally... I've just got mine pressed in there the right way that the lid doesn't open at all without pulling on it. I rarely have drinks in my car anyways, and I much much MUCH prefer the clean flush look of it closed, so once it pryed shut, I left it and I tell people to just leave it alone as well.

Are you talking about the front or the rear? Both mine stay open

I looked and it doesn't necessarily say anything about the lid, just the divider. Even if it is a TSB, what does that mean? They won't fix it right?
