What happened to my exhaust?

So I went to the mall today and parked the car in the sun. I was gone for about four hours. When i got back and started the car, the stock exhaust sounded a bit muffled. Didnt think much of it untill I opened it up on the highway and revved it a few times after i got home. It sounds MUCH quieter and lost that unique infiniti exhaust note. It almost sounds muffled. Its bugging me to no extent and i have no clue what it could be. Car is basically stock with just some minor visual upgrades. Never happened before and now im pretty annoyed. Tried searching and couldnt find anything with similar problems. All the help is appreciated

Smart girl, why didn't you think of that? If the sound has changed that much you need to take a flashlight and look deep inside your tailpipes.

Could it be the cats going bad? I've heard they go bad around 60-80k. I also noticed my mpg got way worse since my last fill up on sunday. Also could the gas station that i filled up at have anything to do with it? I always fill up super at the same shell gas station but this time it was at a different shell, but i still got super? Any thoughts? Its definitely not anything in my tailpipes.

only thing i can honestly think man is look for a set of test pipes and maybe a gently used stock muffler which can be found super cheap. if you are referring to charlotte nc a guy has a set of berk test pipes on craiglist there for 100 bucks. if ur gas got that bad its either a clogged cat or muffler

on a side note i do notice that my car does not always sound the same at start up, especially since its hot outside now. but once warmed up it is fine so not really same issue as you

I've noticed my exhaust a little quieter at times, but after a couple of days, it went back to normal. Not sure if it was just me or if it actually got quieter... anyways if in a couple of days it still sounds different, I'd take it to the shop.
