Does anyone now how to read the "date sticker" on the back of a cluster to see if it matches with the manufacturer's date on the inside door of the car?

I think you are being paranoid and everything is fine. The 3k difference in mileage between march 2011 and july 2011 is not that big of a deal. If I was rolling a car back i would be rolling it back 10,000 miles or more not 2,000 miles. I think carfax just has a gap in records and so does the dealership. Forward me the VIN and I can get you an AUTOCHECK.

Sounds pretty reasonable for you to be fretting over the discrepancies to the tiniest details, but I think as of now, you really are left with no other option but to accept the car as is and enjoy it instead of worrying over it. And while this may sound harsh, you really should have done your homework and checked everything BEFORE you purchased the car, maybe then would you have noticed the details and be able to do something about it right there and then. Calling the original owner and leaving 10 voicemails doesn't seem like a viable option, as he could easily just ignore your calls regardless. Oh and FYI I had a perfectly fine 2005 G35 sedan before with only 23,000 miles on it so don't be too quick to jump the gun and assume there's particularly anything wrong with a car just because it has low mileage; in my case, I just didn't drive it as my DD lol. Take a deep breath, relax, and just enjoy your new ride.

Here is the autocheck and looks like he DMV probably put the wrong mileage on record when they renewed registration for the seller. The autocheck comes out clean and does not have a flag for rollback, or accident. You have full buy back protection if the seller gave you carfax or autocheck or you ran it before you bought it.

Got an 06 sitting in my garage with 18k on the speedo no roll back just never use the car. I use the car on the weekends or whenever my daily goes down. It is possible to have bought a nice low mileage G. Theres other things you can look at on the car. Check the engine bay for oxidation as well as the undercarriage. But like others said the tires and brakes are a good giveaway on mileage.

I understand 3k is a difference but it looks like human error by the DMV. The two keys are right next to one another and could easily have been mistakely pressed.

Good luck with all

My concern now is that the car will be perfectly fine (entry error on record), and you will have ripped your car to pieces and harassed the seller of the car to the point where he wants to sue you.

You should sue him if you can provide proof he rolled it back. I think it's a big deal because now it will show up on your history report that the odometer could be tampered with.

That depreciates the vehicle, and if he provided you a faulty car fax you could sue him on those grounds too as long as you can prove it.

Um didn't you look at the mileage on the instrument cluster when you inspecting the car?

I guess you missed the post above that the Auto Check report came back clean. No accidents, no rollback.

A lot of fail in this thread there is.
