at first i thought the kits would simply replace the trim in the car, which i figured would be legit replacements, but since they're basically just stickers, isn't that kind of considered tacky? or is that what actual trim pieces are in cars, just addons to the stock parts?

The stickers are tacky. I'm currently trying to get a friend to do my trim in real CF. I don't think I'd go with anything less aside from repainting.

Wrap it in 3M carbon fiber wrap. If you don't know how, hire someone to do it for you.

It looks 1000x better than the "stick-on" addendums and fools your passengers into thinking its OEM equipment. If not, expensive, professional work at the very least.

Id still feel kinda toolish though faking carbon fiber. Are there any real replacements or is painting the only thing that would be 'real'

You could paint them? I know there is a thread about that on here somewhere. I think it looks pretty good, but I like the way the brushed metal looks better

Yeah painting seems to be the only option if I want my conscience clean. I have no idea what color would match my ugly tan interior

I know someone in NorCal ClubLexus who has his wood trim dyed/painted to carbon fiber. Took 5 months and a lot of $$$$. If you have money, anything is possible.

I'd like to see what it would look like if the brushed metal was just flat black, since my cars exterior theme is basically sand+black, and my interior is pretty much the same sandish color.

I like the idea of flat black. Glossy would look really plastic I think. Especially next to all the 'sand' colored interior parts. Maybe I'll try it this weekend, my exterior is OB
