Tranny problems Help plzz !!!!!!

Hey Guys need your help!!!!!! I just **** up the syncros from 2nd to 3rd gear, Nissan wants 3500$ to fix it, and i check at other places as well and its all around the same price. I can buy a use tranny for 1000 $ with 120k on it, I'd like to get some advice from u guys out there that probly have change tranny's before if its a big job or not ? i know you might have to loosen up the motor mount to allowed the motor to tilt backwards so you can slide the tranny out. I'd just like to get your oppinion on that if its a big job or not. Thanks guys !

Ouch. I'm sure the work isnt the easiest job, but better than $3.5k.

Also, maybe check out part out threads in the marketplace or local junkyards to find one with a bit lower milage?

They want 3.5k just to change the syncros and the bearings plus fluid and labour obviously thats retarded. i checked 18 junkyards and there is only one 6 speed tranny with 120k on it so i think i should buy it for 1k and he's got a 3 months warranty on it.

dude.
hit up lkq or some junk yard or website for a used tranny and put it in yourself.. time max: 12 hrs for a novice. and probably spend no more than a grand in a tranny and 500 bucks if need in mish parts.

do work son. its not gonna be that hard. watch some spiketv powerblock and youll know whats up. lol

umm...you iz overpaying by alot. You can get a brand new latest revision tranny CD009 for $1890 shipped. You should be able to find a decent low mileage tranny for $600-$900. Why do noobs never search and overpay. There is people on the forum who look for noobs like this to make some profit from to pay for there own lifestylez.

Also please read into the shifter bracket you might need and ugprade your pivot bolt to CHROMOLY..people learn to spell CHROMOLY it is not CHROME ALLOY

Where do you live to figure out shipping costs and options. You will need to read and research since I am lazy and will not spoon feed you. The 03 year has changes in the shift fork and you might need a shifter bracket as well possibly. Read up on my350z forums an G35driver for people with 2003 year that had to swap tranny to the newer revision. All the transmission before 2005 were junk and had crappy synchros that end up tearing away. It is good that you are replacing your tranny but don't put in anything less than CD009 revision and get the CHROMOLY pivot bolt. If you are in there you might as well pick up a JWT clutch combo and save your self money down the road when the clutch craps out.

If it does not say CD009 your synchros will eventually crap out...dont put anything less even if it is free unless you like doing labor twice

^^^^^ thanks bro and here is a tranny still for sale CD009 for less than $650. You will have to figure out freight shipping cost and if it makes sense to get it used or buy a new one for $1890 shipped (keep in mind that is $1890 with USA freight shipping, so Canada will be more)

Once again faiz, you pull one out. I have an 05' that now has 100K on it. I installed the JWT clutch pac at about 87k. I love it but my left leg does get a work out now.

I have noticed that this trans is not happy until it warms up. 1st to 2nd is hard until the oul gets warmed up. Third is a little tricky sometimes, I can feel a slight gear click when shifting (grinding) but it's not real bad at all. I have never "speed shifted" this trans, it's not a monster 5 speed out of a GT car. It's just not made for abuse.

Not sure on shifter bracket I send you a PM and recommend you search on G35 forum for peoples previous experience when upgrading there tranny. Also the guy just dropped the price from $650 -$525. If you can find a freight options to get it there cheap you could have a tranny for less than $1k with low miles and latest revision.
