Talking Aftermarket Headunit Questions

Hey, thinking about getting an aftermarket headunit (double-din, nav) for my '03 G. Looking at the JVC KW-NT3HDT. I have a few questions, maybe someone can help.
  1. Does anyone have this unit? How is it?
  2. It comes with a GPS antenna but will it work with the factory G antenna? If so, would the crutchfield wire harness include that?
  3. If you have to use the included antenna, what's it look like, where did you put it, how big is it, etc.?
  4. Does the Axxess ASWC Steering Wheel Control Interface work well between the G and the JVC?
  5. It has variable illumination color, can you get it to match the G's orange glow?

Thanks for any input you have!

I have a Pioneer unit and it works great. The kit from metra is very decent quality but will cost you $150+.

It comes with it's own antenna to be used. It's very similar to an aftermarket XM antenna (a little black square about 1"x1"x.5")

I have my antenna mounted on my dash on the passenger side. It's small enough to not really be noticeable.

I elected not to get a steering wheel control adapter, but from reading, there is generally a small delay in commands.

My variable color illumination matches pretty much perfect, however it's not all that important as touchscreen NAV units have very few buttons.

Hope that helps you.

Check if you can disable the variable color and set it to Amber. If it doesn't have Amber as an option, most likely won't match perfectly. But yeah the screen itself will surely make it difficult to even notice the button illumination. Not sure about the navigation thing; I still use my OEM nav and didn't bother getting nav on my Kenwood (although it is compatible).
