G35 Coupe Uncomfortable Driver's Seat
#46
I have an 05 and quality of the leather is a little upgraded, it fits me just right. Im having no problems with aches and pains. Very comfortable IMO, I think some need to start hitting the gym a little and shed off some extra weight in the side region and in the hip region. The seat fits like a glove and it is supposed to be like that.

5" 10" @ 180 lbs and I just love the seat. I don't sit on my wallet (I kind of pull it inside my back left pocket up and out so your not really sitting on, kind of next to it while it's in your back left pocket.
P.S. Did any of you who are having problems or pain with the seat...not test drive the car before you bought it?

For those who have moved the electric-seat switches from the thigh bolsters to the sides of the seat, was there enough leather on the seat skin to refill the space that the switches occupied? Mainly, is it obvious that something was moved?
At 6' / 200 lbs / 36", moving the switches might really help me out.

I find the seats to be a bit uncomfortable too. I find the lumbar support is too far up in the seat back to be useful, and it practically doesn't even reach the actual lumbar area of the back (lower bacK) because its too high. For some reason, the seat back forces me to slouch in the seat a little, so my lower back is often not in contact with the seat back. As the initial poster mentioned, there is not enough shoulder room in the seat back because the side bolsters extend too high up. While I'm not a large guy (5'9", 150 lbs.), I am in decent shape and my shoulders extend beyond the seat width, which normally wouldn't be a problem, except that the side bolsters get in the way.
Overall, I would say the seats look much better than they feel.

If I end up not being able to live with the seat after I take delivery, I will give serious thought to going to an upholstery shop to have the seats contoured to fit and recovered where necessary. They could remedy any issues with any of the side bolsters and relocate the seat controls.
I'd want to cover any racing seat with matching leather, so modding the OEM seats would likely be a lot cheaper.

You have to remember that these seats were not made for the average American male, but rather for a Japanese man who is shorter, thinner, and overall has a smaller body frame. That having been said, I am an American male who is 6'0" and 165lbs, and I have no problems with the seats whatsoever.
For the few posters above, you actually might be too large for this car, in which case I would recommend looking at other automobiles or eating differently. There is no reason your BMI should be over 27 if you have a VERY muscular build, or 25 if you are an average person....
Then again, if you start getting in-shape, I will have less business as an Anesthesiologist in the coming years

I have a question for the folks complaining about lower back pain from these seats....
Do you have lower back pain doing other things....? like yard work, lifting and so forth?
If so....it's probably not the seat that is causing your pain. It's probably from your unfit body. Get to the gym, start working that back and lower back, along with a good 10 mins of hamstrings stretches a day, do that for about a month, and watch you backpain go away. 80% of all lowerback pain is causing from stiff hamstrings, and weak lower back muscles.

that site is worthless. It's no where close to the correct BMI for me. Shows me in the overweight zone. uhhh....I don't think 196 and 13% bodyfat is overweight. geezzzz...
maybe for the fat unactive unfit person it might be close...I dunno.
