Slip light coming on when taking curves.
I just had to put new tires on my rear (fronts are still good) but now when taking an off ramp or a curve with any g's at all the slip light comes on and the ABS activates and scares the hell out of me... Also I can see how coming off an off ramp and the ABS locking down could cause a wrech if anyone were to be imediately behind me...
Anyway question is,
I had all matching tires Kumho Escata but the model of tire I had they discontinued so I picked out some General GMAX they have great reviews and were good budget tires, anyway the tread patterns are way different than the Kumho. Once I got the rears put on when I come off the highway or take a curve the SLIP light comes on by itself no VDC or ABS lights just slip I've done some research and from what I can tell I'm going to have to replace my fronts with the same tire with the same tread pattern.
Does this sound correct? Can different tread pattern really throw the VDC of that much?
Edit to add that I'm running 245/35R20 in front and 275/30R20 in rear, These are the same tire combo I had before and never had a problem. Only thing different is the tread pattern.
Tire presure and brake fluid are good.

Yes thats what I read in all the reviews so I figured I'd try them out. I was just wondering if anyone else has ever had this problem before.
Also when I first bought my 20's I wrapped them in falcon 452's didn't like them too much and the backs wore down really fast so I replaced them with Hankooks which the tread pattern were similar but I never had this problem. Only thing I can think of is how much difference there is in the tread pattern when comparing the Kumho and the General.

when I first bought my car it had 245-45-18 all around and in the rain when taking a very wide turn at 65mph the light would come on and the back end of the car would NOT track with the fronts...I changed to the 225-45-18 in front and no longer have that problem

i had the same problem the first time i got new tires.. i had the stock bridgestones up front and i changed out the rear to Toyo T1r's.. SAME EXACT PROBLEM.. I talked to the dealer at the time and he said it was a known problem.. Different tread patterns.. I thought that was bullshiit.. anyhow.. i ended up driving scared for a couple hundred miles , then i coughed up the dough to get matching front Toyo T1r's... problem went away.. car drove terrible the whole time.. slip light and abs turning on and off on every off ramp...
i know this doesn't happen to everybody.. but it does happen.. i made a thread about it like 5yrs ago...

This happened when I had 452s in the front and hankook v12s in the back. Swapped out the back to 452s and the problem went away. Think it had to do with speed ratings and tire tread pattern.
I seriously doubt it has anything to do with the tread design but more about the tire rating. I've always run sticky tires with UTQG ratings from 180 to 240 and have never had my slip light show up. I can see running a cheap azz entry level tire rated at 400 how you'd have a continual issue with slip and slide and worthless in wet weather....
