Hey guys... just to answer a few questions.. Cost is whatever you can find a motor for, p/s rack as well (steering knuckle fitment) and the wiring service. We charged this customer around $1200 for the wiring job. What we charged the customer was : Rewire :$1000 I re-welded his ac lines to fit HR compressor $350 and Osiris tune $600

As far as the NATS removal.. as far as know, this is only on my tuner cable specifically for shops. I asked Jared for this specifically as we specialize in putting VQs / VKs / etc motors into every kind of chassis out there.. not just Nissan.

So 26 extra horsepower for $2000.

Have you done a VK56 swap into a G35? That's the one that would be worth doing if/when I ever need another engine...assuming costs are reasonable.

Its way more then 26hp

296 tuned, stock G35s are 200-230 to the wheels. NA Modified 250-270hp

So its more then 26 but is it worth 2k + engine costs. Meh

Rich at uprev thinks it could be done for 9k installed, but I don't know anyone who wants to be the first.

I used Nissan's numbers. VQ35HR = 306 hp VQ35 = 280 hp. There's too much inconsistency among the numbers from all these dynomometers out there for me to put a lot of stock in them.

I agree it doesn't seem like a huge benefit for the money. I'd be more interested in the VQ37, which shouldn't really cost that much more to swap (wiring is wiring, regardless of engine displacement). The VK56 would be all the better - though I'd expect there to be more fabrication work (and cost) to make that happen.

I'm not knocking the OP's effort. I think it's great they've done it, not because the VQ35HR is a huge improvement (I don't think it is, at all), but because someone is working on the computer side of things that could eventually lead to more interesting engine retrofit options.

If I were in the market for a new engine, and I were going to spend the money to put a diffferent engine in anyway, I'd want it to be a little more special than almost the exact same engine from the same model car that's a couple of years newer.

Of course, since it's unlikely I'll "need" a new engine for at least ten years, in my situation all this is irrelevant.

One thing you need to consider is that when the hr engine came out the auto companies dyno rules changes and the ratings on everything when down,

At dynos stock for stock hrs were putting about 40whp more than revups. Which shows how the new crank numbers were affected by the change,

On top of that built na(rebuilds with cams ) barley pull over 300whp. So for a oem reliable bolt on this is good,

And this engine make 450 whp all day on like boost safely Compared to the 350-375 of a non hr

If dyno numbers and Nissan published numbers are too inconsistent and unreliable, simply look at the 1/4 mile times. As of right now, the fastest HR Z has ran 13.1 @ 109 mph. BONE STOCK, to the tire. The fastest stock DE Z has run a 13.6 @ 102 and DE G35 13.8 @ 101. I respect your opinion, but the HR is a much better motor than our DE.

Also, @ the OP. Did this customer do a entire 05+ interior swap? Gauge cluster and everything?? Great work though, post up more videos!

If you ever look at a HR compared to a DE when they're torn apart you'll see just how vastly superior they are.

Thanks for the reply. I was under the assumption the HR engine was the same as the rev-up engine in the '06-'07 G 6MT. I'm not very familiar with the Z engines...I thought they were the same as what we have in the G. If that's incorrect, thanks for pointing it out to me.
