2005 Low tire pressure light

The rule of thumb is for every 10° Fahrenheit change in air temperature, your tire's inflation pressure will change by about 1 psi (up with higher temperatures and down with lower). The air in your tire is cooling down overnight and the pressure dropping. Once the car is driven and the air inside warms up, the pressure will come back up to where it needs to be. We did a big study on this here at work. Might want to check out the results: Tire Tech: Air Pressure

I suggest that you get yourself a decent tire pressure gauge. I have a digital one that is pretty well foolproof ($10).
Once you have a good tire gauge, check your tires cold. I usually do mine first thing in the morning b4 driving at all. Set your pressures to spec which is on a label in a door jamb.
Check those pressures periodically because they will change, as XCELR8 says, with temp., as well as usage, slow leaks, etc.
If the low air light does not go out, and the pressures are correct, you may have to do a reset by the pedal method or battery disconnect method.
It's important to check your pressures frequently, especially when the weather changes from day to day and seasonally.

my light stayed on constantly when it was 40 or less degrees. i'v read the manual and it says if the rears pressure is below 30 or somthing the light will remain on. rear tire pressure rec for 18's like my 6mt coupe is 35psi. i changed all 4 to 35 and the light went away after driving 10 feet. stayed off since then. try upping the pressure on your tires.

I deliberately keep the rear tire pressures of my 04 Coupe with 17's around 3 Lbs under the recommended 30PSI to avoid the inner treads of my rears from prematurely wearing out. The fronts I keep at the recommended 30. Every 60 days or so, the low pressure light comes on. I checked the rears and they read 26lbs. The first time I inflated them back to 27lbs the light went right out. The second time it happened it was cold outside and the light would not go out after adding the air until driving a few blocks.

The sedans are recommended at 30psi? If so, you should keep it around that, or
you're going to prematurely wear your sidewall. factory recommended psi is very
conservative for comfort reasons.
I have the 18" on the coupe and I have it exactly at 35psi at all times (cold) or
over inflate it to 38psi when I know I won't be driving it for a couple of weeks to
rid the chance of flat spots. Even at 38psi, I roll the car forward/aft a little bit
so that it's off the same spot on the tire for a prolong time. I then deflate to
35psi and take it out for a spin.
If I was going to take her to the canyons, I'll use 37psi.

I just took my car out today and the tire pressure light went off. It makes sense that the cold air will effect the air pressure in the tire. I am going to pep boys to get a digital tire pressure guage & put some air in the tires to see if it fixes this issue.... I'll let you know tommorrow if it solved this problem...btw it was 9 degrees F. this morning in queens; so this could have really messed with the sensor..
