How much should I expect to pay for '04 G35?

I'm planning to give my Z4 3.0 to my girlfriend and get a G35 myself. Are there still some brand new '04 G35's left around? How much approximately should expect it to cost?

And how much should I expect for maybe an used '03 to cost? Have there been any big mechanical problems with the G35 in general?

I test-drove the G35 about a year ago and liked it quite much as far as performance and interior stylings go. It's the car I like most in today's market and within my budget (around $40k). I like the exterior stylings overall except the rear bumper. I feel it's perhaps too "big". Is there any aftermarket rear bumper with different stylings?

The closest dealer to me is about 50 miniutes away. And I'd really appreciate if anyone can help me in my purchase.

BTW, does the G35 have any transmission like BMW's SMG?

I prefer manual myself, but my girlfriend gets to drive my car quite often when we go out, and I'm not willing to suffer any performance loss with an automatic.

Thanks again :-)

Edit: I don't mean like the steptronic or tiptronic, but with an actual manual tranmission that has sequential shifting/paddle shifting like the Ferrari's or M3/Z4's SMG's.

Nope the G35 does not have an SMG, but there is talk that the 2007 Skyling GT-R will have the SMG.

In terms of price why don't you look around on cars.com you can find used prices and possibly get quotes for new ones.

If you think its too big why not look at a 350Z

Why not try the search to see if there are any known problems, thats what most of the senior posters will tell you. There are even a few I love/I hate my G35 threads posted in the past few days.

Just look on infiniti.com for dealer inventory around you and goto edmunds, find the invoice and just send email too all the delaers around you like in 150 mile radius for 1500$ off...most should agree.atleast some of the dealers in chicago agreed when I emailed them...

Hi CLS2G35,

Thanks for your response. I think typically websites like car.com or edmunds.com don't have the most accurate or most updated actual market prices. At least that seems to be the case when people bought '04 Z4's where there was a 9K discount below the MSRP that wasn't widely advertised and was often not disclosed to potential buyers. So I was just wondering if this might be the case for the G35, and if it is, then you guys would know the best.

I also test-drove the 350Z and the G35 back to back, and while the 350Z is very similar to the G35, I really don't feel connected to the 350Z emotionally. I'm not a fan of its styling and much prefer that of the G35, not to mention I want the 4 seater in G35.

It seems like I'm going to be forced to go with an automatic (GF is a keeper so trading her in for someone else isn't an option ) Anyhow, thanks for pointing me the way to the search function.

Why don't you consider picking up a semi new G35C? Maybe around 5K on odometer. 2 weeks ago I picked up a 2004 black/black G35C 5AT with 5K. Options included were premium pkg(18" wheels, upgraded bose, etc.. Oh, and I forgot to mention Navigation. Total cost was $31K

Looks like ur forced to expand ur search on Auto trader. It's worth the travel!

My opinion? Don't by new, unless ur planning to keep the car for quite some time! Or! the cost of the new model is at or below invoice. Result? If the spread between the new and semi new is nominal, then opt for the new(if available).

Enjoy!!

I have a very new G35c for sale if you check in classified. Anyway.. You're girlfriend is going to get the Z4 3.0 and you get the G35coupe? I would feel kind of weird if my girlfriend drove a sportier car than me. If you've been driving a Z4 3.0 for a while, be prepared to sacrifice a lot of driving feeling and the "quick" feeling of the car. I love the Z4 3.0, it's such a quick little car. Maybe you should just get HER the G35c...

NEVER fold to your gf. Man, I know she will be driving your G, but why go auto cause she wants to, you said you wanted the 6MT, so why not get that and force her to learn 6MT. Hey, plus I think chicks that know how to drive stick are hot!!!!. Plus, do you really want your gf to be driving your car that much? She is only a gf, not a wifey...so I don't understand why you are folding so fast. I will admit that my gf made some decisions when it came to picking out my current car, which I'm still waiting on. But when I brought up the face that I wanted to get an auto cause maybe she wants to drive it too, she said NO, don't get it. She knows I really want a 6MT and I don't want it no another way and I she knwos that I won't be happy with an auto. So she understand and is willing to drive a stick, she sorta knows how to already, but she ain't no pro yet though. I don't know about you, but feeling 298 HP at the pedal is going to be a good feeling when shifting gears. Which I don't mind at bit, traffic or not, the only way to drive is manual. OK, w/ SUV, auto is fine =).
