Being the owner of a BMW as well (2001 330i), I can relate to a lot of what is mentioned in this thread. Although I prefer to drive the G as it is more fun, there are aspects of the BMW that I really like. Yes, I have had problems with the BMW, but I have also had problems with the G, I really believe they are both great cars, but have different demons among them! I sure wish the G was as solid as the BMW, I literally have zero rattles in the Bimmer and it has 71000 miles on the clock, it drives like it was new! I also wish I got the gas mileage in the G that I get in the bimmer, 24 BMW and 18 G, with identical driving habits and the BMW is auto to boot?

Not to "jack" the post......welcome bro, you will love the G, it is a hoot to drive!

As a former BMW owner I suggest you start exercising your smile muscles now, because you'll be needing them full-time starting the day you take delivery of your G35 coupe. It's a fantastic car, and will remind you of the BMW's good side in many ways. It won't remind you of the heartache of constant trips for warranty service though.

The only aspect I could favor my BMW on (mine was an E36 5MT sport coupe) over the G for might be in the rattle department. The BMW was rattle free, and the G is not exactly (but not really bothersome either IMO), but I'd happily take 3 times the rattles in exchange for the constant dread of "what will break next" in the BMW. Otherwise the G coupe is a sheer delight. 18 months and 12K miles later I'm still grinning ear to ear.

It's far and away the best car I've ever owned in almost every single way...

From: Trolling a forum near u.... (T.O.)
sorry to hear about the problems

just wanted to say sorry about the problems with your car. i leased a '98 corvette once hoping to possibly buy it out at the end.... and that car was also a nightmare to drive. seemed like i had problems with every area of the car during a 2 year period (actually more like 1 year due to winter storage). had electrical, interior trim, exterior trim, engine, tranny, etc... problems with the car. don't get me wrong... it was a fantastic sports car, but the amount of problems i had left a bad taste in my mouth. nothing like driving an expensive car and devoting half of your life to the dealership. what always gets me with dealerships is the fact that they think u have nothing better to do but bring your car in and waste a day especially during work.

i too have ordered an '05 g35 coupe (due end of january)... here's hoping our cars drive smooth and solid from the get go.

congrats

I'm an owner of a 1994 325is and has 176,000 miles on it as of yesterday. I can say it is rattle free, but I have put in $1600 into in since September, but was good in terms of repairs for the rest of the year. I figure $1600 is still less than a $400+ car payment each month. However, for my next car, I'm going to buy a g35c 6mt. I'm looking forward to it.
