05' coupe: Is it okay to jack more than 1 wheel at a time?
05' coupe: Is it okay to jack more than 1 wheel at a time?
Hey all,
I just got my ride detailed, and I wanted to plasti-dip my rims before they get messed up. I see in the owners manual how to jack up and remove a single wheel, but I was hoping to do them 2 at a time.
My roommate has the Z, so I have 2 jacks... is there any issue with jacking up the left front, and left rear at the same time? It's already been recommended to me that I loosen the wheels first (as to not jerk the car off the jacks trying to loosen the bolts,) but I was curious if there's anything else I should do?
The manual mentioned blocking your wheels... I'm not sure what to use for that, but basically anything heavy?
Thanks!

You can do both front/rear. I've done it with no problems. Yes, you should loosen the lugs first. Very straight forward. Not sure what "blocking your wheels" means, but I don't see how there would even be another step other than loosen lugs, jack up, remove lugs, remove wheel, do what you gotta do.
Be safe, good luck, have fun!
Also, probably edit out the "I wanted to plasti-dip my rims" part.

"blocking the wheels" was from the owners manual... they basically just put something on either side of the non-jacked wheels so they don't move. And LOL @ edit out the plasti-dip—it's just to protect the rims for the upcoming crap weather... now my brembo brake covers, those are just pure style!
Thanks for your help!

Oh, good idea. Sure beats buying another set of rims specifically to get ****ed up in the winter. And I suppose blocking your wheels sounds like a good step to take. Not sure what'd be good to use; I feel like if the jacks are going to slide, even a cinderblock wouldn't stop them if they're under car pressure. But I suppose it'd prevent the car from hitting the ground.

2-pack for $25... I can get with that.
Interesting... I hadn't considered those jacks being unreliable for extended use; the car would need to be up for at least a few hours.

Yup, just some basic jackstands like that as long as they are rated for the correct weight are fine and will be much safer!

buy a jack & jackstands it will make life a lot easier and if you are willing to spend another $70 or so then get a electric impact wrench. I have all 3 above and I can get my wheels off in about 5 min if not less.
I was planning on using the emergency jack to get it on the jack stands, but you're suggesting just buy a more reliable jack as well.

The emergency jack is so annoying to use >.> I used it to lift some of my suspension to make for easier removal. Twisting that thing endlessly makes me appreciate pumping so much more lol
