Question about the HVAC system

When turning the heater on, the system only allows the vent to be open. And it seems that when using the recirculation mode, the air conditioning has to be on. Is there a way to turn the recirculating mode on with the air cnditioning off? Thanks and because Im the typical guy, I have not read the manual.

When you select Recirc, I think A/C will come on automatically, but you can push the A/C button to turn it off.

Thanks for the reply. But, when I push the recirculate button the AC does come on like you siad. So, on my car I push the AC button to turn it off and automatically the AC turns off and the recirculate is also shut off (the system goes to vent). Does my car have a mind of its own? Or do all Coupe do this?

Thanks again.

It's normal for our g's to act this way. Mine is same.

Apparantly Nissan doesn't want you to use the recirculation mode without the A/C. They're worried about the windows fogging up.

Which mercedes?
Both my mother (S class) and brother (C Class) have them, I haven't seen a problem.
Unless it's a CL or E which I have not seen the console, I've never heard of that before.

I dont like this about our cars. I want full control over the system. I want recirculation without the AC. It would get too cold in the winter with the AC on when recirculating and I will not run the AC with the heat up to adjust the temp. Waste of gas and power. Oh well, I guess the cars look makes up for it!!!
