squealing under hood
I had my belts replaced two months ago. Where I bought car did it for me. I know this has been hit on a bunch. I am getting bad squealing when I start car or driving if it is really cold. Also rain. I know it has to do with belt tensioner. They were supposed to change that, but they said belts were bad and that would fix it. I told them not... So the question is, what do i need to adjust? or do I have to change the belt tensioner out?

You probably just need to tighten your belts a bit, it's super easy to do. If you don't have a belt tension gauge, the belts should have just a bit of "give" when you press down on them.
Thanks. How do I do that? I was just under car soon oil change and wasn't sure which pulley to tighten, or even how to do that. I don't have a guage either. I am taking car to shop to have my winter tires put on so I can have them check it also.

You need to loosen the nuts on the 2 main pulleys to be able to adjust the tensioners. Once the nuts are loose, then tighten the tensioner bolts from underneath the car a little at a time until you reach the desired tension. Then re-tighten the nuts on your pulleys and you're done. If you are taking your car to a shop, ask them to do it and watch what they do if they'll let you. Changing out the belts is one of the easiest DIYs for a G and will save you considerable $$ if you don't have a mechanic do it.
Thanks! I will see if they will let me watch. Doesnt seem hard at all. What if they are tightened and still squels. How do i know when i need to replace tensioners? I do have extended warranty which covers this stuff.

The tensioners very rarely are the issue. Did you replace the belts with OEM? The VQ seems to be picky at what belts it likes; OEM, Gates, or Gatorback are the preferred choices, other brands are known to squeak no matter how much you adjust them.
