I notice that a lot of you have it mounted on the top of the windshield. How and where are you running the wires for power?

Do you have it flushed mounted? or is just behind the plastic of the cluster??????

I tucked wire under headliner/pillar and tapped switched fuse for power; you can tap switched wire, like cig lighter wire, with V1's provided wire tap.

For remote ashtray install, I removed gear shift ****, raised center console, removed ashtray liner, removed ashtray, drilled hole in ashtray bottom for wire access, fed wire back to firewall and under dash [using "leader" wire (read straightened hanger) with telephone line connected on one end], and hooked up to V1's provided adaptor. I tested V1 then put everything back together. Note, remote display fits perfectly in ashtray with liner removed and 3m double-sided tape to hold in place. IMO, this setup is functional and best complements the g's seamless chic look.

I installed my 8500 under the mirror using a mount from "Mike" on www.my350z.com so no need for the suction cups.

Mine is above on the left side of the rear view mirror using the suction cups. With the visor down, the rear radar sensor isn't blocked by it. It's hard wired down to the fuse box tapped into the cig lighter.

Hmm... Does anyone know anywhere around Irvine (OC) that can wire the Valentine 1 into the car? (Concealed wires into the roof?)

If you have remote display (highly recommend), you'll need this connected to main unit (read you'll still have to run wires through pillar). See my instructions this thread.

That second pic there looks very clean. Is that installed plus cables? I see some other people posting pics that show the console (stereo area) cable free!

This is the only thing holding me from getting a detector... I thought there was no way to install it tha clean. Can someone tell me where the cables are hidden in those wonderful setups?

I also hated seeing cable dangling from unit and remote display not looking factory installed. That said, my V1 is clipped to driver-side visor and remote display is in ashtray. Power cord (telephone wire) to main unit is tucked under headliner/pillar and run to fuse box (fusetap); power to remote display is run back of display through ashtray, back to firewall, to adaptor I fixed under steering column. Nice, seamless look.
