Good Bye g35...

Hey everyone,
I'd never think i would post up a good bye thread to my car, but here it is. Earlier today I got into 5 car accident on the 60E, in which surprisingly, only my car was the most beat up and destroyed. All the other cars were fine and drivable, but mines was done/dead. The point of this is that I need some advice and input regarding insurance, and what can I get out of this. According the towtruck driver, my oil was leaking and my transmission was dead, my front was damaged heavily and my rear is pretty dinged up. The cause of this was because the first car claimed that someone cut him off, and he suddenly braked hard. The second car also braked, and 3rd braked. I was the 4th car, and when i saw the red light for braking, I had my foot on the brake pedal and was pushing down, beliving that it was a general brake to slow down a bit. Little did i know that the car in front of me went from braking slowly to a complete stop. I had little time to react and couldnt brake in time which resulted in the collision, and the truck behind me had little time and rear ended me. The question I had is who is liable or at fault here? After the incident, i talked with some of the drivers and they all stated the first car was the one who initiated the sudden stop out of no where, which resulted in not enough time to brake. I was 3-4 car spaces behind the 3rd car when it happened, and didnt anticpate the complete brake. Right now i am just completely heart wreaked that my beloved car is gone..funny my rear spring mount for my springs just came in today too..any help would be appreicated thanks

If the first car stopped because of something then he is not at fault. You are not suppose to travel close enough behind someone that if they HAVE to stop, you possibly will hit them. Unless that driver pulled a "swoop n stop" like the Allstate commercials, then he is at fault. But of course there is exceptions to everything so it's hard to say without actually being there. Goodluck man and glad you're ok.

i think this is how it goes..

you are responsible for whomever u hit.. and that's it.. if the guy ahead of you suddenly slams his brakes.. you are suppose to be far enough away to react and brake.. you are suppose to be 1 car length per 10mph of speed.. if you're going 60mph, 6 car lengths.. so if someone brakes hard.. you should be able to react and stop in time..

so the only one who isn't at fault is the guy in front...

So after calnming down, it was like this the car in front of me braked, so i started slowly braking, when the car in front of me suddenly slammed his brakes, i slammed my brakes also, but the truck behind me i gues didnt react in time, and he hit me full on in the rear which pushed my car under the one in front of me, which caused my front to essentially go under the rear bumper of the car in front of me
